Usual night at J's Bar. Two patrons set in the corner, arguing about something on the news. The night was normal, but the discussion was not.
"I swear, only bears could take a bite out of a human like that." Said a man clad in brown, a hunter, to another man. The other man shook his head, his short brown hair moving with it. This man wore an expensive suit, presumably a doctor.
"That might explain the lacerations on the neck and back, Joseph, but the bites look to be a lot of smaller mouths, almost… human." The doctor trailed off, then cringed at the thought.
"By God, George! You don't really think us humans are eatin' each other, do ya?" the hunter, Joseph, asked, taking a swig of beer from his bottle.
Over at the bar sat a R.P.D. officer, attempting to enjoy a beer but having no luck considering the discussion he was hearing.
"Are you hearing this shit, David?" he asked the man beside him, a plumber named David.
"Hard not to. They talk so fucking loud." He responded simply, downing a shot of whiskey. "I thought you were on duty today, Officer Ryman." David said, sarcastically to the officer.
"I'm on call, and its Kevin. Besides, they don't need so many officers, what with the S.T.A.R.S. members everywhere." He said, looking absentmindedly at his beer.
"Thanks, Cindy. You treat me too well." Said the bald and rather large black man at the corner table to a blonde waitress. "No problem Mark, you know I love you like a father." The waitress, Cindy, said with a smile. She turned and walked back behind the bar as Mark began sipping on his mixed drink.
Suddenly, the front door of the bar swung open, and a man stumbled in. "M-my God! Monsters!" the man said, collapsing, blood seeping from a bite wound on his shoulder. The doctor, George, was the first person to him, Joseph close by, while the others rushed forward as well, except for David. "Oh God. This is a human bite for sure. Someone close the door!" Kevin moved to close the door, and a rotting hand came through. "Shit!" Kevin yelled as he slammed the door on the hand, making it withdraw in pain, then finally getting the door closed.
A very loud, continuous, moan filled the streets of Raccoon as more of these monsters began pressing against the windows, trying to break through. "Damn it! Help me move these barrels, Mark!" Mark ran over to where Kevin was pushing a barrel. They both pushed their barrels in front of the door, keeping it effectively closed and barricaded.
George stood from where he was working on the man that had came in. "I lost him. He was muttering things about being itchy and hungry, then he died." George crossed the room over to the rest of the people. "I don't know what the hell was or is wrong with him, I've never seen anything like it before in my medical career." Just as he said that, the man rose up and began moaning like the mass of creatures outside.
"Son of a bitch!" Kevin yelled, drawing his .45 auto from his hip holster and pointing it at the creature. "Freeze! R.P.D.!" he yelled as the thing slowly advanced. "I said freeze you son of a bitch!" Kevin yelled as he pulled the trigger, putting a pistol bullet right into the thing's head, dropping it like a sack.
Finally, David set his shot glass down and stood. "This is more then a little fucked up." He said as he pulled out a switchblade knife. "Lets get the hell out of here." Just as the words escaped from his mouth, the door fell in and the things began climbing over the barrels.
"This way!" Cindy yelled from over at the stairwell. She had unlocked it with her employee key. Joseph took a step to the door and was grabbed around the ankle by one of the things. "Help! Goddamnit help me!" he said as more of the things grabbed him and started dragging him to the doorway. "Nonono!" he started shouting hysterically. "Let me the fuck go you Goddamn monsters!" He shouted at the things. One bit into his neck and his shrill scream pierced the night.
