A Harry Potter story. Harry reflects on the war and life without Sirius, Remus and his parents. Set after Deathly Hallows.
Stay low, soft dark and dreamless.
Far beneath my nightmares and loneliness.
I hate me for breathing without you.
I don't want to feel anymore for you.
The war had ended long ago. It was the 2nd May 2000, the second anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts. Many people had died, including Harry best friend's brother, Fred, and the first proper DADA teacher Harry had had, Remus Lupin and his wife, Nymphadora Tonks. Harry had managed to hold down a job at the newly reformed Ministry of Magic, with Kinsley Shacklebolt as the new Minister of Magic. Harry and his friends, Ron and Hermione, were now working in the Ministry of Magic. Despite the war being two years ago now, Harry still wished he could have died to spare all the innocent lives taken by Lord Voldemort and his followers, the Death Eaters. Harry involved himself in his work to hide his grief.
Grieving for you, I'm not grieving for you.
Nothing real love can't undo.
I know I may have lost my way, all paths lead straight to you.
I long to be like you, lie cold in the ground like you.
During Harry's time off work, that's what he thought about. What would've happened if he had died that fateful night in 1981? It could've been someone else, right?
(Halo, blinding wall between us.
Melt away and leave us alone again.)
Visiting the graves of his parents and visiting the memorial at Hogwarts was always hard for him. Hermoine and Ron always convinced Harry that Voldemort's rise was something Harry and even Dumbledore couldn't control.
Dumbledore.
Harry had seen him.
The humming haunted somewhere out there.
I believe our love can see us through in death.
I long to be like you, lie cold in the ground like you.
There's room inside for two, and I'm not grieving for you.
I'm coming for you.
Harry knew he wasn't alone in his grief. After Fred Weasley's death in the Battle of Hogwarts, his twin, George, had been moping around. It was only last week when George decided to re-open their shop, 'Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes', and he had been doing fine so far.
You're not alone.
No matter what they told you, you're not alone.
I'll be right beside you forevermore.
But Harry knew his heart would be always be with the ones he loved.
I long to be like you, sis,
Lie cold in the ground like you did.
There's room inside for two and I'm not grieving for you.
And as Harry stood there, admiring his parent's grave, he finally realised the true of meaning of life and love.
And as we lay in silent bliss,
I know you remember me.
I long to be like you,
Lie cold in the ground like you.
There's room inside for two and I'm not grieving for you.
I'm coming for you.
