The atmosphere was dark. The sun disappeared and the clouds darkened, hinting that it would begin to rain. Sakura stood over a body with a blood stained kunai. Her hands were covered in blood and her head was lowered. A few tears rain down her cheek as she stood there. She knew what she had done would affect one person the most.
Naruto rushed to find Sakura. He started to call out her name loudly, hoping she would respond back to him. He had to find her quickly knowing what she had in mind. Little did he know it was already too late to stop her.
"Sakura! Sakura, where are you?!" He called out her name a few more times before he found her. Naruto slowly walked behind her before he saw the body in front of her. His eyes widened noticing the familiar clothes. "Sakura.. What did you do?" A few rain drops hit Naruto's face before the downpour of rain started. Their clothes and body started to get drenched.
Sakura lifted her head and turned around. Her hands were shaking rapidly.
"Naruto.. I" Naruto rushed over to Sakura. The closer he got to her, the more Sasuke's face become visible. Naruto was in shock and panic. He didn't know what to do or what to say to her. He placed his hands on her shoulders and gripped them tightly, as he looked into her eyes.
"Sakura, why?! Why would you do this?"
"I-I did it for you." The blood slowly washed away because of the rain.
"This isn't what I wanted! I didn't want things to turn out like this!"
"I didn't know what else to do!" Her voice loudened while more tears rolled down her cheeks. "I was tired of seeing you suffer for my selfish needs. I know you wanted Sasuke to come back just like I did, but there wasn't any hope he'd be the same. " Her eyes lowered to her feet for a moment before she looked back up. "The darkness was consuming him and you know that, just as well as I did."
"Sakura…"
"You don't have to chase him down anymore. You're free from it all now."
"How am I supposed to look at you the same now? I just don't know what I should do anymore!"
"You don't have to look at me the same anymore! I already understood the consequences of me doing this.. It's okay if you hate me now. It's okay if you don't want anything to do with me anymore."
The grip of Naruto's hands on her shoulders started to get tighter. Naruto's face was full of sorrow and grief.
"I could never hate you Sakura. I just-"
"I'm sorry. I know you don't believe when I say I love you, but I do. That's the only reason why I wanted to put an end to this. I love you enough to stop this suffering you're going through, searching and trying to reach through to Sasuke."
Naruto's hands left Sakura's shoulders and wrapped around her neck. He pulled Sakura's body close to his and hugged her tightly. Sniffles could be heard coming from him. He laid his head on Sakura's shoulders before he started crying. Sakura dropped her kunai and hesitated before she lifted her hands. Slowly she placed her hands against Naruto's back pulling herself in closer in the hug.
"I'm sorry, Naruto.."
