Summary: Legolas recounts his love affair with the human called Aragorn. At time he lovingly and bitterly calls "young love."
Young Love
I was young for one a part of the Elven kind. I was few thousand years old. I was a prince of Mirkwood. I was the son of Thranduil. Sindarian was my tongue. Grace was my soul.
I've had no siblings. But there were many friends to accompany me to explore the areas of life.
I didn't travel much. My father wished to keep me inside his borders but every now and then he would send me as his emissary.
I had no contact with humans.
Humans were a vague thought in my mind. But I heard of them. Accounts came mostly from my father.
It was mostly about wariness and distrust. Not as much distrust as we have for the Dwarves, but enough to not spend any quality time with their kind.
But Estel changed everything.
I felt distrust and wariness when I first saw him. But I also was curious. Never had I seen a human wander so far and so willingly into my realm.
I had to watch him.
He was so different. I knew of humans, but not much. He smelled. He looked rougher than my companions. And he had an aura.
There was something about him that screamed ancestry of the old blood. But of which I was not sure.
He surprised me too.
I could tell he was skilled in arts that I didn't expect a human to be adept in. Maybe that was my ignorant mind in awe for surely not all humans were dumb.
After two nights of watching him, something remarkable happened.
He saw me!
I don't think he actually saw me for I know his eyes weren't as keen as mine, but he did sense me.
And that was when the world I knew changed.
For the better? Or the worse?
I don't know.
It was young love.
