"Shattering Hearts"

Disclaimer: I do not own any characters of Inu-yasha. Other characters featured in my fanfiction are owned by the author.

Sesshomaru stared at the crying newborn pup he held within his hands. The pup was small in size and covered with pure white baby fur. Cub-like ears stood erect on the pup's head and its small round eyes appeared to be a soft blue. A small furry tail curled its way around Sesshomaru's arm. "This one reminds me of that brat brother of mine." Sesshomaru snorted. The pup was clearly a purebred and the only son of Sesshomaru that look like Inu-yasha.

"Let me see the new pup!" Sesshomaru elder son shouted. Sesshomaru was obviously disgusted with the pup's appearance and his mate had died in child birth. "Isn't he cute? Look how tiny he is!". Seibuiki was quite delighted in seeing such a strange-looking pup. Sesshomaru's other mates were excited about the new pup's arrival. Usagi was the eldest of Sesshomaru's attractive mates. She is very quick tempered and arrogant when comes to her child.

Kameko was the second eldest being 90 demon years. Hana was the youngest of Sesshomaru's mate being the only one who died in child birth. The high leaders of the Western Dog Clans talked softly amongst themselves as they waited impatiently for news of their leader's new pup. It was yet another male that added to listed of Sesshomaru's Daimyo heirs. Lord Anseki was the leader of the Red Dogs.

Slim, handsome, and aristocratic, he had recently inherited his position from his deceased grandsire. His flashy temperament matched the rich crimson of his flowing red hair. He had brought with him his son and heir, Koushoku, a taller, more handsome demon whose conniving gaze was always looking for opportunity.

"Do not let sentimentality get in the way of your purpose," Sesshomaru reminded his elder son sharply. "You have been raised and trained to succeed the White Daimyo as the Great Demon of the West."

Shirokiba, the wolf-dog youth that his father had taken in, was now cradling the infant and talking with Shinubo. The younger demon had a look of joy and wonder on his face, as if he too had been given a younger brother that day.

Sesshomaru had left the infant in the care of his other mates. Now he was in search of Inu-yasha. To find out if he had been with his mate. The striking resemblance of Inu-yasha was too strong in the child's features.
