Hey everyone, KitsuneGirl1994 here to apologize for making you all wait so long for the first chapter! Between writer's block, and my laptop deciding to be an asshole, it took a while to get the ball rolling, but I'm back now, so let's get the show on the road!

Ch. 1 – Sun sets on air, as it rises on water

Southern Air Temple: 53 years after Sozin's Comet – Summer

The warm mountain air of summer blew a gentle breeze against the wrinkled brow of the aged avatar as he lay dying, nature's way of trying to comfort her incarnation as he begins to make his final journey to nirvana in the comfort of his bed surrounded by his loved ones. Avatar Aang had lived a very selfless and giving life trying to maintain the balance with the time he was given, though his family and friends felt that his life was cut to short. It turns out that the century Aang had spent in the iceberg had drained his life force, so while he was externally 66 years old, internally he was 166 years old, his body had become sickly, and had now almost completely shut down.

"It is okay, my friends", Aang smiled weakly, looking at the crying faces before him, "the balance has been maintained, my job is done, and it's time for the next Avatar to embrace this world. Please don't weep for me, for I get to be with my people now. Instead, celebrate my life once my spirit has left this physical plane, and guide the new Avatar in their duties. I have a feeling that they are going to surprise you a lot in both personality and ability", he chuckled as his eyes started to grow heavy.

His wife smiled through her tears, and placed a gentle kiss on her lover's forehead, knowing it was time to say goodbye, "I love you, my sweet warrior."

"I love you too, Ty Lee. We will meet again in the next life, my love", he kissed her palm, and then her lips, before she pulled away, wiping away the endless tears.

Following Ty Lee's lead, everyone else gave their goodbyes, as well:

"I'll miss you, Twinkle Toes."(Toph)

"Goodbye buddy. We had some fun, didn't we? Shit, I'm gonna miss going on those crazy adventures with you." (Sokka)

"Goodbye, my friend. You were a true warrior and comrade." (Zuko)

And that's how things went, until only a Water tribe woman and her Fire nation lover were left. That's when the former gave the elderly air bender, a strong yet gentle hug, "I'm going to miss you so much Aang! You were my first love, and my one of my best friends, and now you're leaving us. I wish you didn't have to go, but I understand why you do, so I want to say thank you for coming into my life, when I felt I had no purpose. You gave me hope, friendship, and love, and for that I will always be grateful. Safe journey, my friend, and rest your eyes. You have earned this sleep", she smiled, and gave him a kiss on the cheek, before stepping back, one hand rubbing her eight months pregnant belly.

Aang gave the young woman a warm smile, "And thank you, Katara, for freeing me from that iceberg all those years ago. For that I will always be grateful", and then he turned his wise gray eyes to the Fire nation woman, "I would like to thank you as well, Azula, for your friendship, and the new life you gave my best friend after we went our separate ways, when she went to find you five decades ago in the Spirit Forests surrounding the Swamps. You opened your heart to her and showed her that you were soul mates, had the Mystic Saber wolves make her an immortal guardian like you, and now you both have a baby on the way after so many years. At first, I was afraid that she wouldn't find somebody to love after we broke up, but now I can rest easy knowing you're watching out for her. And by the way, I have a feeling that baby girl is going to give you and Kat a run for your money; a real spitfire and rebel that one's going to be", he laughed with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes.

Azula rolled her gold eyes playfully, "Geez, for an old guy you sure talk a lot. Why don't you go ahead, and go to sleep now, so you can go skipping in the flower fields with Momo and Appa", she commented, earning a smack on the back of the head from her wife. "What, I'm just saying! Anyway, I'm gonna miss you baldy. Say hi to Uncle for us, when you get to where you're going, ok air head. And I know you're hiding something about my kid, and I will find out", she responded with a wavering voice, trying to make sure she didn't shed a tear in front of anybody.

Aang just smirked, "Maybe, maybe not. You'll see, won't you, fire crotch," and finally closed his eyes, setting his spirit free from his mortal body. "Well played, Aang", Azula smiled through the few tears that started to stream down her cheeks. Nobody noticed Katara's belly glow for a moment as Raava left Aang's body and entered the body of the infant inside, eyes blinded by tears, as they realized that their friend was no longer with them.

Spirit Forests of the Earth Kingdom – 1 month later – late Summer – Home of Azula and Katara

"AHHHHHHHHHH! I'm going to kill you, Azula!" , Katara yelled through another contraction, as she nearly broke her wife's hand in her death grip. Azula could only groan in pain, as Katara squeezed tighter, "Owwww! What did I do?!" , she managed to get out through her clenched teeth.

Katara glared at the gold eyed beauty, "You seduced me with your sexy Azulaness, and put this baby in me!" , causing the midwife to try and hold in her laughter, not wanting Katara to attack her next. The blue eyed, dark skinned woman was scarier than any full-blooded saber wolf, even though she and her wife were only half due to being guardians.

"Nita, please tell me that our baby is almost here! I can't feel my hand anymore!" , Azula whined, hanging off the bed in exhaustion and utter pain. Nita chuckled behind her mask at the fire saber wolf guardian's current position, "Yes, the baby is now crowning, so Lady Katara, I need you to give me a big push, ok!"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

A few minutes later, the bedroom was filled with the sound of a baby's cry, "Waaaaaaaahhh!"

Nita smiled as she wrapped the little Katara clone in a red blanket, the baby finally settling down after a minute, curious blue eyes watching her every move, "Hello little one. Let's show you off to your parents, beautiful girl."

Nita handed the baby girl to Katara, as Azula knelt beside her wife and mate, "She's so squishy looking, haha, but so beautiful. And she has her mommy's gorgeous sapphires and looks, and her mama's personality. She's gonna be a little heartbreaker, Tara." , Azula grinned, placed a kiss on her daughter's forehead, and gave her an Eskimo kiss, earning a giggle from the infant as she tried to grab her mama's cheeks with her tiny hands.

Katara smiled at her mate and daughter, and then asked, "What do you want to name her, sweetheart?"

Azula thought for a moment, looked in her baby girl's eyes, and then smiled as she had an epiphany, "Korra. It mean's "last hope" in the Water Tribe language, and it fit's."

Katara looked at her sweet baby, and agreed, "It's perfect, welcome to the world, Korra." , and little Korra responded by sneezing, a tuft of flame shooting out of her mouth causing the baby to giggle.

Azula jumped up from the bed in excitement, "Yes my baby girl is a fire bender! Oh I can't wait to teach you how to fire bend, and use dao swords, and….", she rambled on, earning laughter from her mate, and their friend, Nita. None of them noticing baby Korra turn her head in the direction of Republic City, eyes filled with longing for the one who calls out to her soul.

Republic City – Earth Kingdom – Mansion of Hiroshi and Kim Sato – Right after Korra's birth

Kim Sato, a beautiful Earth kingdom woman with pale skin, green eyes, and raven black hair, had just placed her one year old daughter, Asami, in her crib for bed, when the adorable equally raven haired, green eyed, pale skin toddler sat up, and pulled herself up with the bars, turning her head to look out the window across the bay towards the spirit forests, eyes filled with happiness, and longing.

Kim walked back into the room at that very moment, and spotted the toddler, "Asami-chan, why are you still awake, my little angel?", walking over to the crib.

Asami responded without looking back, "Kowwa! Mine! My Kowwa!" , she giggled as she clapped her hands in excitement, finally laying back down, so her mama could tuck her in.

Kim kissed her daughter's cheek, "I love you, angel-face", and exited the room, wondering about her little girl's statement.

"Nite, Kowwa. Me luvs you.", Asami grinned tiredly, as she fell asleep.

A.N: Due to being made guardians, Azula and Katara were turned into half saber wolves so that they would be immortal, and they now have fang tattoos on each cheek (Red for Azula, and blue for Katara), vampire looking canines, eyes that glow in the dark, and claws on their hands and feet. Korra has the same appearance as her parents, but she doesn't get the tattoos until she's older, and yes she's immortal too, and Asami will be as well once she and Korra are mated.
