Missing In Action

Preface

Two days past eighteen
He was waiting for the bus in his army green
Sat down in a booth in a cafe there
Gave his order to a girl with a bow in her hair
He's a little shy so she gives him a smile
And he said would you mind sittin' down for a while
And talking to me,
I'm feeling a little low
She said I'm off in an hour and I know where we can go

So they went down and they sat on the pier
He said I bet you got a boyfriend but I don't care
I got no one to send a letter to
Would you mind if I sent one back here to you

The army truck pulled up to the curb of the house. I touched my enlarged stomach with a smile on my face as I waited on the porch for my soldier. The door opened and another man stepped out of the truck. He approached me with a grimace on his face.

"Are you Miss. Swan?" He asked. I nodded slowly while he sighed deeply. "Miss. Swan I'm sorry to say, but Mr. Cullen is, um, M.I.A…"

"Missing in action?" I asked slowly, fingering my heart necklace he gave to me before leaving for the army. I remembered that day so clearly it was like it was just yesterday that it happened.

"Do you have to go?" I asked as he pulled on his green army uniform. He smiled crookedly in my direction before grabbing my hands and kissing each knuckle.

"I'll be back before you know it," he whispered and kissed the hollow beneath my ear. I had known him for 3 months and we had already done everything normal couple would do. I love him and he loves me, what else could I ask for? "I promise."

"Pinky promise?" I asked playfully and stuck out my pinky. He laughed and twisted his pinky with mine.

"I pinky promise," he said before kissing me passionately. He pulled away and grabbed his bag, sighing deeply. "Don't get into too much trouble? Okay?"

"I'll be fine, but I should get back to my apartment," I said and smiled up at him lightly, who looked at me with a confused expression. "What?"

"Can you stay in my apartment while I'm gone?" He asked with a hopeful look in his beautiful green eyes. "It'll give me a peace of mind. Please?"

"Of course I will Edward," I said, a grin covering my face. He smiled my crooked smile and kissed me for the last time before lightly stepping towards the door.

"I love you," he said and stepped outside the door. My hand had been clutched into a fist now and I felt cold metal hit my palm. I opened it and saw a beautiful heart necklace that he had slipped into my hand.

"I love you too," I whispered to just myself as a tears slipped out of my eyes. I really did, I loved my solider.

"Um, yes miss," he said awkwardly. I nodded and slowly turned away, trying to hold in tears as I shut the screen door. But when the door was shut I broke down. Crying as I slipped to the ground. Holding my stomach with our baby inside, the baby that would never know its father.

Ok so this isn't very good for the preface, but I want some reviews and maybe I'll decide to keep writing!

And the first chapter for One Year will be up soon so check that out as well!

Bye! :)
