Imperial Household Intelligence Report on the Hawkmoon

Alexander Petros, Itinerant of the Royal Guard, to the Emperor.

Sir, from my understanding you wish an updated version of our files regarding historical individuals of note with new information come to light with our increased cooperation with All For One. We are still sorting through the data we acquired as part of his war reparations for the Sports Festival bombing.

As such, this will not be an in-depth report but a high order report that can be queried at a later stage once we have classified all pertinent subfiles. At the time of writing, there are a staggering sixty subfiles attached to this.

All information is based on these sources: existing records with the UN Peacekeeping Forces, eye-witness accounts, videotaped evidence, All For One's data, and UN medical evaluations.

This file is classified Gemini-Sky-Green, the nineteenth file with this clearance rating.

Historical Notes

The name Hawkmoon is known to every Japanese and Brazilian child. She is a cultural icon, a hero of Japanese birth who founded the New Heroes that brought peace during the Second Dark Age and slew Titan.

Originally a member of the JSDF, she quit after being denied a transfer to the UN Peacekeeping Core to battle the Warlords.

She would join a mercenary band and take part in battles across the world for a year. In a conflict in New Zealand, her unit would be cornered. This took place at the same time of the global EM strike that destroyed communications equipment and electronics across the world. She would be injured in a combat operation that would see her squad killed. Near death, she summoned the Hawkmoon gun, and the first lucky bullet multiplied a thousand times over and annihilated the enemy forces.

The UN Peacekeeping Intelligence would mark her as a priority recruit for her dedication in battling the Warlords. She would be one of the founding members of the 1st Armed Quirk Platoon, as well as the last. This platoon was the first and set the standard for armed quirk units throughout history (see subfile: An Itinerant's Guide to Quirk Warfare). They would, following many of their initial battles, be rebranded as the New Age Heroes.

Her earliest recorded battle [now that we have access to AFO's files] as a UN soldier was in Korea where she and the New Age Heroes sided with the SIX during the War Against Heaven (see subfile: Korean Civil War). This event has been censored so effectively that we have only just discovered that one of the major combatants, Jin Mo-Ri (see subfile: Jaechedesong), lives in Japan and has done so for decades.

After this battle, she would meet a man named Gendo and they would have a daughter. She would take a year off for maternity leave during which time Graviton Lance would be recruited as a member of the New Age Heroes.

After returning to the NAH, she would take an immediate liking to Graviton Lance. Together, they would take down Titan's commanders in the Brazilian Liberation War lasting six years. She would gain a reputation as unbeatable as she never once lost a single battle. [It should be noted that AFO's files indicate that this was largely propaganda and she nearly died on two separate occasions.]

Her true claim to fame is her victory against Titan in Sao Luis. This battle lasted hours and left a massive trench in Sao Luis, Titan's last base. The trench is partially filled with the giant colossus of Titan's quirk and is currently known as Titan's Fall. At the highest point of this monument is the flag of the UN bearing the Hawkmoon. It is a fitting reminder that anyone, even a Great Tyrant, can fall. Following this battle, she was awarded the Order of the Southern Cross.

Her daughter would die from cancer at the age of twelve a few months later. This would throw Hawkmoon into grief that she channelled into her work, becoming more effective than ever before. It would also lead to her marriage failing.

Together with Master Railroad and the remaining members of the New Age Heroes, Hawkmoon would take part in a series of battles in Germany to destroy the influence of the Empire 88 (see subfile: The Rise and Fall of the Empire 88). In the final battle (see: Siege of Berlin), she would personally face and win against the leaders Kaiser and Allfather with Graviton Lance at her side.

Graviton Lance would be forced to retire following the injuries he sustained in this battle. He would die two years later, and Hawkmoon would personally see his body transferred to the Crucible in Turkey, where his corpse would be interred. As a final honour, she would take part in their Nine Trials, and win without a scratch.

In the decades that followed, she would become an incredibly important figure in stabilising the world as the last member of the original Triumvirate (see subfile: The Disappearance of Master Railroad).

She would take a more passive role once the Golden Age was ushered in by the likes of Hero, Legion, the Immutable, and the other heroes of this time.

A close friend to Hero, Hawkmoon was devastated following her assassination. She tracked down the killer, tearing through an entire organisation (see subfile: League of Assassins) in her quest for revenge.

After slaying the Herokiller, she was awarded The Royal Order of Munhumutapa, the highest award a foreign civilian may receive from Zimbabwe. Additionally, an entire wing of Hero Memorial Academy has been named the Wing of Hawkmoon.

This would be one of her last acts before she retired from active duty. She was celebrated heavily on her return and was there when the first hero agency was opened alongside other individuals of note such as Hinata Ononoki and the original One For All. During this, she would say the words she is famous for:

'Anywhere can be paradise as long as you have the will to live. After all, you are alive, so you will always have the chance to be happy. As long as the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth exist, everything will be all right.' These words would later go on to be engraved at the base of Titan's Fall and the Wing of Hawkmoon in Hero Memorial Academy.

She was very conveniently absent during All For One's rampage and was holding a year-long vigil in Turkey against a group attempting to acquire Graviton Lance's signature weapon. Later, she would not combat All For One no matter his actions, and when pressed for answers she would reply that it isn't her right to decide the future.

There are a series of conversations she would have following these events including All For one; the 123rd Emperor, Jin Mo-Ri; the current holder of One For All.

A decade before her death, she would author a memoir titled 'My Eclipse' that has since become a seminal work in many institutions.

On her deathbed, Hawkmoon would refuse to be buried with an elaborate tomb. Instead, she would be cremated and her name added to one of the grave markers at the Aomori Salt Plain Memorial Site. Her death was mourned across the world and attended by dozens of heads of state. She would be awarded dozens of posthumous awards and military ranks.

Motivations:

Yui's motivations changed over the centuries. In her earlier years she was a mercenary motivated by wealth but following the deaths of her squad she would develop an intense hate for warlords and devote her life to their destruction.

She is noted to waver in her convictions often, such as the death of her daughter or the eve of Titan's Fall. Her devotion to the New Age Heroes after this was an inability to cope with her daughter's death and an attempt to flee from her failing marriage, brought on purely by this hesitance.

In her later years, she would be motivated by justice and ethical constraints. She spoke very much on the importance of limits over moral character (see subfiles: Hawkmoon-123rd Emperor Transcript).

By the time of her death, Hawkmoon was very clearly filled with regrets for the acts she had committed and questioned the necessity of her actions. Whilst accepting what had happened, she cautioned against following her example in the ages to come as her methods were a result of an entirely different era.

Organisations and Affiliations:

United Nations: Whilst she is a Japanese national and was conferred the highest military and civilian honours possible, Hawkmoon was only ever formally employed by the United Nations for the majority of her life.

The United Kingdom: She was formally knighted for her services against the warlords of the Second Dark Age.

Hero Memorial Academy: An honorary alumnus of the institution. As thanks for eliminating the Herokiller, an entire wing has been named after her.

Brazil: She is honoured as a liberator and has been decorated by every award available to civilians. She was granted citizenship and a ceremonial military commission to the rank of general.

Berlin: She has been granted the keys to the city of Berlin and a state of her can be found at the sight of her battle against Kaiser and Allfather.

The Immortals: Hawkmoon is one of the Immortals, people who lived incredibly long lives including Hinata Ononoki, All For One, and Jin Mo-Ri. She seems to have spoken to each and every single immortal, or organisation that would have a singular vision such as the Royal Family (see: the Twelve Immortals). She seems to have been something of a moral compass and was revered as the Elder of the Immortals.

Tactics:

Specific Tactical Methods:

Hawkmoon relied on a single weapon, the handcannon named after her quirk. This handcannon fired ten bullets and of those ten, three were guaranteed to be lucky. Some days the luck was positive and sometimes it was detrimental to her, but those three bullets were always lucky to some degree. From the recovered footage of her battle against Titan, she fired approximately six hundred lucky bullets in her battle against Titan until the final bullet that penetrated his armour.

Long range: Yui doesn't miss. This is a simple fact. Her quirk ensures that she can hit a target at a range of up to two kilometres without fail.

Middle range: Assuming you are combatting her at this range implies you have an immunity to regular bullets. At this range, Hawkmoon will fire her entire magazine to trigger her three lucky bullets until one is lucky in such a way as to defeat you.

Close range: This is the only distance in which Hawkmoon is weak. She lacks physical enhancements that let her match up with extremely fast or strong individuals. Which is why she was always accompanied by a master at this range such as Graviton Lance.

Physical Abilities

Unlike most of her enemies, Hawkmoon completely lacked any notable physical abilities outside of her eyesight and accuracy. She wasn't much faster or stronger than a baseline human. Because of this limitation, she was always paired with someone competent in this range.

Notable Allies

Master Railroad: One of the Triumvirate of the New Age Heroes, Master Railroad was a close friend and ally to Hawkmoon. Their most notable battle was the Siege of Berlin against the Empire 88.

Graviton Lance: another of the Triumvirate and Hawkmoon's closest friend. Together they never once lost a battle.

Hero: Hero rose up in the landscape following the defeat of Stormwind and Titan. Yui Ikari was a mentor and close friend to Hero, and the two are known to speak for hours at a time despite the age difference between them.

All For One: The relationship between Hawkmoon and All For One is peculiar for many reasons. Firstly, Hawkmoon never attacked All For One no matter how far he went. She never confronted him after All For One's rampage across Japan. It is however known that she spoke to AFO eighty years before her death, after which she began ageing. More importantly, after that, All For One's methodology changed drastically.

Hinata Ononoki: One of the Immortals and a close friend to Hawkmoon. The two spent many days debating their respective philosophies.

Notable Enemies

Titan: The great tyrant and despot of Brazil during the Second Dark Age. He was unbeaten by all opponents for years until Hawkmoon slew him with the aid of Graviton Lance.

Empire 88: The organisation that ruled Berlin after Stormwind retired. Hawkmoon personally slew both Kaiser and Allfather during the final battle against the organisation.

The Herokiller: The man who poisoned Hero and Legion. Hawkmoon would avenge them and riddle the Herokiller's body with her bullets.

Mental and Psychological Notes

Hawkmoon was an odd figure due to how her psychology showed incredible drift for decades before permanently stabilising.

She falls under the Pragmatic/Righteous set of Heroic personalities. She has a seemingly long list of rules and limits that she never exceeded once her personality became constant.

Political and Social Notes

Hawkmoon is renowned and revered across the world, but nowhere as much as Japan and Brazil. Titan was loathed even by his own people, and the Titan's Fall monument is a legacy to the folly of hubris. It should be noted that had she fought Stormwind, she would be reviled in Europe just as Master Railroad is.

Whilst not active in politics, she was very much active in social causes. She campaigned for prisoner rights and fair trials. She argued against the system of villains and heroes, correctly predicting it would lead to a tipping point.

Final Warnings

Hawkmoon is a testament to the people of Japan and the strength of their quirks. She was honourable and proud, and in time would grow to be incredibly kind.
