I was working with Annabeth at the World Trade Center. We were just on an internship thanks to Hermes. We were handling stuff that got sent to Olympus. Hecate had manipulated the Mist to make it seem like we were negotiating and handling stuff with Greece which was close enough.
I was planning to proposing to Annabeth this afternoon at the beach. I loved her so much, I couldn't wait to be together with her for the rest of my life and then afterlife.
All, of a sudden, I felt a strange tingly feeling. Like if something was going to go wrong. I had learned to trust my instincts a long time ago. I was immediately alert.
"Annabeth, did you feel that?" I asked her. She was my wise girl for a reason.
"You felt that too?" She asked me in response.
Percy, get yourself and as many people as possible out of there.
"Annabeth, we need to get out and try to bring as many people as possible with us. I just got a warning from dad."
She nodded, knowing that if my dad was warning me, we should listen to it.
We went around telling as many people to follow us because we got a message from the future telling us that many people were going to die if we didn't leave. We went around every floor, but we only got about an eighth of every floor to follow us. If only Piper was here, then she could convince everyone to get out.
By the time we got to the street, everyone started murmuring. They were wondering if we were right. I checked my watch, it was 8:46.
All of a sudden, we heard a plane flying dangerously low. The next thing we know, it crashes into the tower we just came in. We watched in horror as it made a giant hole in the tower and a fire started. I knew that the people in that floor were dead.
We were standing there for about 20 minutes, calling loved ones and talking amongst ourselves. I suddenly got another bad feeling. I looked at Annabeth and immediately knew that she had gotten the same feeling.
2 minutes later, at 9:03, we saw another jet crash into the south tower. We saw that it had almost gone through the tower, that meant that all the people on the floors above were stuck. I saw two people holding hands and... kissing(?) as they jumped out the tower.
Annabeth and I decided to go back to camp to see if anyone else was involved.
When we got there, everyone was in the amphitheatre watching an IM. It had taken us roughly 50 minutes to get there.
We sat down, watching the events unfold. The campers told us about the attack on the Pentagon at 9:37.
We gasped as the south tower collapses. It was 9:58.
Everyone started crying as they saw all the innocent people die. Even the Ares cabin were crying.
5 minutes later, at 10:03, we saw the passengers of flight 93 overpower the hijackers and crash in a field in Pennsylvania.
And only 25 minutes later, 10:28, the north tower collapses.
How could this day have gone so wrong?
A/N: This is in memory of all those who died in the nine-eleven terrorist attack. Pray for those with families who have died. My best friend had relatives in New York who had died. And a thanks to all those heroes who bravely faced death. Flight 93 who fought the terrorist, knowing they would die. The first responders who evacuated the towers and saved many lives, at the risk of their own. And the regular civilians, who faced death and/or the death of the loved ones. So please pray for their families.
Also, happy birthday to one of my favorite teachers, Mr. A, who was turning 18 at the time. He was scared that he would be drafted into the military, but decided that if he was, he would fight bravely for his country.
