The cracking of thunder roared in the young woman's ears and the pounding rain washed the blood from her wounds. "I... I will find him Hazel. I swear... A promise is a promise..." she whispered to herself. The roaring wind was pushing against her cold body and kept her struggling to move foreword. She found herself on a narrow stone path with roses on either side of it. Opening her eyes to slits and pointing her head toward the sky, she saw a dark, tall shape outlined in the dark sky. Lightning quickly lit up the sky to reveal an old castle. "Where... Where am I?" she struggled to say to herself. The young woman began to feel light headed and began to lose her balance. She glanced up to see a dark figure walking toward her. "Who's there?" Before she could here a response, she lost consciousness and fell to the hard, wet, stone ground.
"What happened to her?" a voice cracked in the dark. The figure moved foreword with its lantern to reveal a dark brunette man. Accompanying the young woman's body, was an old baron. He turned his head slightly toward the man behind him. "I'm not sure. I found her wounded outside the castle. I treated her wounds and all she needs is some rest." He got up from his kneeling position and sat his hands on his waist. "Is she alive?" the man with the lantern asked. The baron turned his gaze to some bottles on a shelf. "She may have a significant number of vitae. I think this a great opportunity for you Daniel" the baron replied with a smile. Daniel did not like the idea at all and snapped. "No don't kill her! Alexander sir, we don't even know if she did anything wrong. Also... her face... it seems so familiar..." He walked toward the limp body and closed his eyes. He began to recall when he was a child. His younger sister Hazel was with her best friend. Daniel was walking with them and his sister's friend's gaze turned to him to reveal her face. This was the woman who lay at his feet! He shot open his eyes and gasped. "Daniel?" Alexander asked from behind him. Daniel dropped to his knees and rested his hand on the woman's forehead. "I remember you now. It has been so long Feline. I vow to protect you unlike I had in the past. I promise I will keep you safe."
