Children are at their loudest while attempting to be their quietist. Kushina curls deeper into her duvet. It's the inconsistency that disturbs her sleep, low mumbling tones lull her back to sleep to then be woken by loud and clear words. 'Just talk as usual, Naruto', she begs with muddled thoughts, 'he'll follow your lead'. Naruto tries to be considerate though it's unavoidable that their morning routine will be loud, they are Uzumaki's after all.

She listens through breakfast; the clatter of plates, the washing of dishes, to the brushing of teeth and dressing for the day. When she hears the gathering of bags she turns in her duvet and squints out into the room. It's tidy-ish. The boys are at the door putting Menma's shoes on. He stands still long enough to get one shoe half way laced before pulling his foot out. She huffs a laugh into her hand but Naruto hears her all the same. He stands with Menma on his hip and bounces over.

"Morning~" he sings.

"SShhs," Menma astonishes loudly in Naruto's ear, "She's sleepin'."

"Like fuck."

Menma leans towards the bunk ladder but Naruto doesn't let him off his hip.

"Mama, you sleepin'?" Menma whispers.

She shrugs the duvet off her head, just enough to speak to the boys, "No. What time is it?"

"Six-forty something." Naruto grins. Right. Saturday. Early start, late finish for Naruto. The bunks creak as Naruto steps on to the first rung so Menma can see her over the rail. "Gramps s'up for sittin' the snot'till lunch, playgroup 'till three, then work crèche. I packed lunch and dinner's Ichiraku."

"Busy day," her nose scrunches at the thought of leaving bed and running around east Konoha all afternoon, "I'll meet up with you at lunch then bring Menma home. He goes to playgroup on Monday anyway."

"Nope! Gramps, playgroup, work, that's today's plan." He insists.

"Naruto."

"He needs all the playgroup he can get, they teach him not to bite."

"Just tell Ms. Penswick to dip her kids in vinegar."

"Vinegars nasty." Menma mumbles against Naruto shoulder, the early rise catching up with him already. Naruto tries to frown at her but his lips tug into a grin which gives him away.

"Besides," Naruto says, "I never said anything about you today, did I?"

"It's Saturday."

Something softens in Naruto then, his grin maybe.

"You're tired, so you're taking the weekend. You do all this shit for me all the time and never have time for your shit. So, Mother's day gift, from Sunday 'cause I couldn't get you anything then, ya know. Sleep, go out, stay in, do whatever or whoever, we'll be out 'till ten." His foul mouthed but earnest speech is a bit more than she can handle so early in the morning so she nods mutely and disappears back under the covers. The bunk creeks as Naruto steps down. She hears him slip Menma's shoes on and hears Menma sleepily offer a goodbye before the door locks behind them.

And slowly she slips off to sleep again.
