Preface

I stretched my palm out pressing on the six inch plate glass that separated me from her. If only I could hold her in my arms and tell her everything would be alright. If only she understood any of my words or my actions. This girl had become the centre of my universe without her ever speaking more than a few words to me. She reached her hand out and placed it where my hand was mirroring my image. Even though I knew the glass was there, I could somehow feel the warmth of her hand on mine. I smiled and for first time ever since she was institutionalized she did the same.
