The Magic Tree House- Cardcaptor Calamity

By Sachiko Cho

Three girls and a boy are moving to Frog Creek, Pennsylvania during Christmas and are bored out of their minds. Tomomi, Sachiko, Ami and Jach bring their favorite mangas on a walk through the woods and they come across a mysterious tree house. Ami always dreamed of being a Cardcaptor. "I wish I could go there."

For the last few hours, the old, beat up brown station wagon, had been driving down the old road. The sun was relentlessly blazing down on the dew from last night's rain,

creating a slight vapor that hung in the air making it hard to see through the windshield.

"When are we gonna get there?!" moaned Sachiko for the five hundred and fiftieth time. "Soon, Sachiko dear, we're almost there." said her mom from the driver's seat. "Ami

nii-chan, when do you think we'll really get there." whispered Sachiko to the girl sitting next to her. "I have a strong feeling we're not going to get there for about three hours at

the least." she said. "Oh don't be so negative Ami and Sachiko. We're entering the district right now. Just look at that sign over there." said the girl seated next to Ami said,

pointing at a large sign on the roadside. It read "Welcome, you are now entering the Frog Creek district."

They peered out of her window at the passing sign. "Dat jost means we are entering de district, Tomomi. It dos not mean dat we are not hours away from de house." said a tall

blonde, blue eyed boy from the front seat. "Yeah, I guess you're right Jach." admitted Tomomi. "Hey, look! It's Ferdy Avenue. That's only two streets away from Elm Street!"

she exclaimed. "Dat close? Jach thought dis wood be farther away!" said Jach, excitedly. "I can't wait till we get there!" squealed Ami. "Me either! I bet our new house has lots

of rooms and a huge kitchen!" said Sachiko. "I think it'll have a nice, big, cozy attic, just for me!" said Ami. They continued chattering until the car came to a halt at the driveway

of a two story, pale yellow house.

The front gate was rusted over and was hanging off its hinges. The wild garden at the side of the house was filled with weeds and dead plants. They all climbed out of the car onto

the driveway, observing their new home. Jach was the first to say something. "Diz iz an old run down house. Ar you sure you got de right address mizzes Sugary?" he asked

Sachiko's mom, who was climbing out of the old station wagon. "Yes, I'm quite sure this is the right house. Isn't it just grand?" she said, beaming.

The kids all stared at her, dumbfounded. 'Who could look at an old run down rotting house and call it "grand"?!' they all thought. Tomomi broke the silence "Yeah, it's umm…

great! Yeah, right guys?" she said, looking around her for support from the others. "Umm… yeah, sure!" said Sachiko quickly. "Of course, it's perfect!" said Ami. "It'z very,

ah… how you sed it? Grand! Yes, just grand!" said Jach. The woman smiled serenely. "Well, I did pick this one out myself." she said flattered. "Well, just don't stand there, get

your suitcases out of the trunk and go take a look inside!" she said.

As they went to the trunk of the car, Ami caught a glance of Sachiko rolling her eyes. This was going to be one boring christmas.
