"You know I'd do anythin' for ya, Boo, but if your boy spends one more night on the couch, leavin' his nasty-ass socks in the sink and usin' up all the water Original Cindy's gonna have to go ghetto on his sorry, genetically engineered, white boy, nonexistent ass."
Max almost found herself saying 'he's not my boy' but corrected herself. As much as she hated to say - or even think - it, Alec was 'her boy' and he'd proved it over and over again no matter how much of an idiot he acted most of the time - or all of the time.
"Ladies," Alec greeted them, sleazily on this particularly grimy, post-Pulse Seattle morning. He was fresh out of the shower and preening like an overgrown cat which - as DNA goes - wasn't that far off. "Don't cover up on my account. Please. I wouldn't dream of it."
Max just about managed an affected sneer as she pulled her sweat-damp cotton robe more tightly around her curvy figure. The last thing she wanted was to be leered at. She couldn't handle it. Not right now.
Usually, this one particular occurrence would just sneak up on her. Stupid-ass feline DNA. The problem - one of the many problems - with being made in a lab, being made by people is that people are perpetual screw ups. And they had screwed her up. Today was one of the rare occasions that she could feel it coming. Her heightened senses were even more heightened, she was twitching. She was going into heat.
For all the times Alec could have been staying over! Alec. He was looking particularly good to her. Strong, sculpted muscles; sweat glistening off his skin. He was just one big mountain of delicious man. And in approximately 0.5 seconds she could be vaulting over the kitchen counter and onto him.
"Somethin' wrong, Maxie?" He asked. He had these obscenely full lips, and Max could almost feel them burning against her skin. His strong hands on her, holding her, keeping her steady. The idea of being with a man who would actually be a match for her…
"We were just going," Originally Cindy said, "We'll be back in two… three days."
Suddenly two long thin arms were wrapped around Max's shoulders and she was being led from the apartment and down the hall, away from Alec with his golden skin, strong arms, that full pink mouth and those…
"Thanks, girl. I owe you."
"Yeah, you really do."
