Inspired by a facebook status about me, from a friend about our real life "Fleeing Lady"
The Fleeing Lady.
"What's wrong child?" said an old woman with a strange hat sitting next to Alex. Alex was so lost in her reverie that she had not noticed the old woman sitting beside her on the pew that was directly in front of the alter. The woman had on a pillbox hat that complimented her short blond hair, and a dress that would make Jackie Kennedy herself look the other way in with lust.
"I have sinned." Was all the younger blond could say. Still thinking about what was captivating about this immaculately dressed woman. She was way over dressed for it not to be even close to Mass.
"Well, certainly you can do better than that, child." She stated matter-of-factly. "We all have sinned."
Not knowing why this woman was talking to her, Alex was amazed about how easy her words came out to this woman. Alex, never talked about herself, and when she did it was not with a complete stranger in a random cathedral.
"I had to abandon the woman that I love" Alex said hunched over and staring at the altar before her. "I had to abandon her, and now I feel guilty, because I could go home."
"I see," says the woman "Did you love her?"
"Very much so." Alex says, still not being able to look at the woman beside her.
"Did you tell her that you loved her every morning when she woke up?"
"Yes, every morning, every phone call, and every night"
"Child, how long have you been in town?" says the lady with the pillbox hat.
"A couple of weeks." Alex says to the woman with a blank emotion.
"Do you still love her?"
"I don't know…Yes…," says the younger blonde-haired person. "I don't know why she would still love me. It's been so long, and if I were in her position, I would have moved on."
"No you wouldn't have."
Then there was a long pause in the silence of the church. Alex felt so small in that big room sitting next to the lady with the pillbox hat, but in the first time in a while, Alex felt the confidence build up within her.
"I believe that she still loves you, seeing how you had no choice to 'abandon' her or not" she says sharply. Her words sounding so articulated around her New England accent.
There was another long silence and the lady stands up and starts making her way down the aisle and through the church doors. All the while Alex is still sitting there dumbfounded. Dumbfounded as what led the lady with the strange hat to believe that she was forced to leave Olivia.
"Wait…" Alex says standing up "How did you know that I didn't have a choice…." She says silently, all the while hoping for a response from the Fleeing Lady. However, there was no response, but she could have sworn that the lady with the pillbox hat had said "I'll pray for you." right before she walked out of the large church doors.
With that, Alex walked out of the random church that she found The Fleeing Lady in, and started walking down the streets of New York until she reached the building she ever so desperately wanted to avoid.
A/N I'm going to be nice and not leave you will a cliffhanger since I don't even like this story. :P
She rapped on her door. It was now 4:30 in the morning and she had little to no hope as whether the older brunette would open the door. She stood there silently for about a minute and right about as she was about to walk away, Olivia had opened her door.
"Alex?" the sleepy wide-eyed detective said. After a moment of refocusing her eyes, Olivia then choked out "What…What are you doing here?"
Alex then closed the desistence between them and fiercely hugged her older lover. They stood there for what could have been forever, and Alex finally whispered into Olivia's ear "A Fleeing Lady with a pillbox hat at a church told me that you still loved me. I wanted to see if it were true."
"Alex," Olivia sobbingly said, "You don't believe in God"
"Now I do" was all Alex could say.
