Dino had a fairly easy battle accepting the fact that he lingered too long. Even after Tsuna, Reborn, and Romario decided the time to depart had come, the Chiavarone boss stayed in the sterile room of Nakayama Surgical Hospital, eyes downcast and fingers twitchy.

He blamed it on the sticky situation with the Half Vongola rings, shrugged his jacket-clad shoulders too many times to count, and heaved out so many sighs he feared for his throat. Having no seats available, Dino paced the perimeter of the room until taking an easy seat on the edge of the mattress.

It fell under his weight, as it would have had any other person sat down beside Basil. The boy's condition, no matter how stable, worried Dino. A sleeved arm, exposed above the stark sheets, twitched in ready reply when the boss laid a hesitant hand on it.

Unsure of what he was doing exactly, he faked a calm smile, laying the slightly hand a comfortable distance from the edge. Thoughts drifted like smoke and the gossamer clouds outside the hospital windows. Looking down, Dino observed Basil. Bandages marred an otherwise sweet face. Scattered, blonde strands covered the pillow; the boss noted quite simply there was a kind of honey colour to them.

A strange thought crossed over Dino's mind. Did they smell like honey?

As if he would test the theory. Eyes skimmed to the door. The nurses had been in to check the boy's status just a handful of minutes earlier. They wouldn't be interrupting any time soon. Dino backed himself up mentally despite staying still as solid concrete on the cot.

He found, after gleaning enough courage, that the strands did in fact smell of something saccharine. The fragrance didn't mirror honey, nor did it exactly displease. Something flowery.

Armed with that, Dino took up his own personal space, smiling inside and out. No, he really didn't mind lingering too long in the lonely hospital room.
