Author's Note: Hi Void here *here waves happily* Ok I would just like to say that yes a
character sort of dies. *hurries on quickly * but he doesn't STAY dead. I blame this
on way too much Yu Yu Hakusho. And some really strange conversations with Vortex. Oh
and a really really cute pic I saw of the pilots with kitty ears and tails. And this
fic will be told mostly from Quatre's POV because I think that's what I write best
in. I say mostly because sometimes I will be using other POVs just cuz it seems to
work better. Well enjoy the fic. And um its kinda in progress right now but I wanted
to get it out there.
Part One
Trowa's POV
"Aw shit." Quatre muttered under his breath as Heero used his gundam as a shield
for the mostly disabled Deathscythe. This was followed by Duo, the pilot of the
Deathscythe, screaming out Heero's name in disbelieving horror.
I think I may have been the only one to notice right away Quatre's choice of
language. But I suppose it makes sense, seeing as I used to think that I knew him.
That was before Heero made that suicidal maneuver to save Duo, and Quatre
volunteered to 'take care of it.' Quatre wanting to help an injured comrade was
not unusual but his refusal to let Duo come with him was surprising.
But there was very little, alright, nothing Duo could do at this time. His gundam
was wreaked to the point that he would need a tow back to base and was lucky to be alive
at all. Looking back on it I suppose it wasn't that out of character for Heero to save
Duo, but that part comes later.
So Wufei and I drag Deathscythe, with a colorfully protesting Duo, back to our
current safe house. Fortunately the maganacs had enough space to hide all five of us
in their underground base.
On the way back Wufei tried to make Duo feel better in the way that is uniquely the
pilot of Shenlong, "You know Duo it would take a lot more to kill Yui than simply saving
that inferior pile of junk which you choose to term a Gundam."
Well this didn't sit too well with Duo, who takes his 'partner' very seriously.
Fortunately there was nothing he could do at this time. I only feared for Wufei's safety
when we landed.
When we did land and dock we were all expecting some kind of message from Quatre.
If only one to say that he had yet to locate Heero. But there was nothing. And worse
either Quatre had turned on a cloaking device that we never knew he had, or we had lost
not one, but two pilots and their gundams.
While the rest of us were trying to figure out what should be done, Duo, as usual,
was taking action. Before any of us realized that he had left the group he was already
leaving in the Shenlong. Needless to say this didn't go over too well with Wufei, who
chased after the mecca as it sped away. I think this was a form of poetic justice on the
part of Duo, when life seems to have killed off your partner, and a co-worker insults your
toys, you steal theirs. Wufei didn't see it that way.
