Summary: Part three in a set of one-shots for the celebration of Klaine Week. A missing segment from On My Way, and my personal headcanon.

Blaine restlessly bounced his knees and craned his neck towards the small TV suspended at the other end of the hall. He probably should get a magazine, but he didn't want to leave his chair in case Kurt needed him.

His boyfriend had been so morose and distracted all week. About the only thing that made him smile was singing and winning at Regionals. Blaine knew that Kurt's guilt was eating him up; his voice was a husky shadow of what it used to be, he was even paler than usual, and he'd barely eaten a thing. Blaine hated it. Seeing Kurt so upset made his heart twist in knots, and he'd done his best to help: he cradled Kurt as he sobbed, he held his hand, and listened endlessly in person and over the phone. But they both knew that Kurt wouldn't feel better until he had closure with David. So they decided to go to the hospital after Regionals, victory celebrations be damned.

The door next to him opened, and Kurt gradually stepped out of David's room. Blaine immediately rose to his feet, ready to be whatever Kurt needed.

"How's he doing?"

Kurt dabbed his cheek with his sleeve, his eyes red from tears. He looked as exhausted as he had all week, but there was something of a sparkle back in his eyes. "He's better. He's glad to be alive."

Blaine cleared his throat and nodded back. "Great. Great, that's a…a good start."

The countertenor nodded, wringing his hands. "Thank you for coming. I know you how much you hate hospitals."

"You don't have to thank me for that."

Kurt bit his lip and stared at his boots. Blaine waited, the faint sound of beeping monitors echoing through the hallway.

"You said…you were looking forward to marriage equality in all fifty states."

"…Yes?"

"…Is there…anything else, you're looking forward to? Things you imagine happening in your future?"

Blaine smiled tenderly. "Of course. A lot of things."

He stepped closer, but he didn't reach out just yet. "Things like going to New York, going to college. Living with someone. Things like getting married, maybe having a kid or two. Then sitting front row with those kids as my husband receives a standing ovation on Broadway." He brushed his thumb over the tear sliding down Kurt's cheek. "Things I hope you'll be a part of."

Kurt smile was tremulous and wide, and he threw his arms around Blaine's neck.

"I love you so much."

"I love you too," he whispered, and squeezed back as tight as he could, knowing it would always be this way. No matter what happened, they had each other.

"One note," Kurt offered. "All of that sounds lovely, and sweet, and romantic."

Blaine acknowledged him with a soft kiss to his ear. "But?"

"You forgot the cat."

He laughed helplessly into Kurt's shoulder. "Okay. We'll get a cat. Is that better?"

His boyfriend squeezed tighter. "Perfect."

Okay, it turned out more awkward than I planned, so hopefully it cuts the mustard. That's the expression, right? Enjoy!
