Central library- 2 a.m.

Ed sighed, glancing back over his shoulder. He had found the perfect book relating to the Philosopher's Stone, but it was in the restricted section, meaning nobody under the age of 18 was allowed to set foot in that area.

Unless, of course, you broke in through the window at dawn, like a certain someone….

"I can't believe it was that easy!" Ed said, grinning. He walked down the aisles, one by one, until he found the book he was searching for. It was red and enormously thick, residing on the top shelf.

"Damn it. They would put it where I can't reach it." He glanced around, setting his candle on a shelf. "I guess I can use that table."

He slid the skinny table over to the spot he needed, not noticing the wobbly leg. He carefully climbed on top, shifting his weight and reaching for the book with a hand.

"Great, its stuck." He tugged on it with both hands, causing the table underneath him to collapse….bringing Ed and the bookcase down with it.

"Just my luck." He muttered, rubbing his head. "Now I've got to…OH CRAP! THE CANDLE!" He stared in horror as the books started to catch on fire. He ran over, trying to stomp them out, but to no avail. It had grown too big. "ALLLLLLLL!"

Alphonse turned around as Ed appeared, his hair slightly singed. "Brother! What happened?"

"Fire...Big...Out...YOU!" He grabbed Al's head "You're empty! Go fill your head with water or something! There's a lake a few feet away!"

"You want to use my head as a bucket?"

"JUST GO!" Ed yelled, running off. Al sighed.

"I knew this was a bad idea."

Ed ran around frantically, trying to scoop up as many books as he could. "My butt is dead if I ruin anymore of this stuff…." He watched as another shelf was ignited. "Hurry up, AL!"

Al ran back to the library as fast as he could. "Ed!"

"Al! Finally! ... Where's the water?"

"Well, I couldn't get it to stay! It kept leaking through the eye holes!"

"Why didn't you plug it up?"

"I did! But then it started leaking from the side, and I've only got two hands!"

"Well, what are we going to do?"

"….RUN."

Later that morning...

Ed peered out from behind the tree. Police were flooding the charred remains of the library. Al sighed.

"Was it really a good idea to call the fire department?" "

It was the best chance we had to save the place. Besides…" He grinned, watching as Roy struggled against the 3 guys handcuffing him. "We got rid of Mustang."

"This is preposterous!" Roy yelled, squirming. "I didn't burn the library down!"

"Well…You are the flame alchemist…Besides, you were only 3 blocks away. What were you doing out at 2:30 a.m.?"

"I told you! I was on a date!"

"Oh really…where's the date?"

"I took her home already!"

"Uh huh…right. Save it for the judge."

Roy glared from the back of the cop car, and his eyes landed on Ed, who gave him a sheepish grin. "Hey, Al? I think we should go away for a while… a long while."
