Summary: A poem about Merlin revealing his magic to Arthur.

A/N: Hey! So, in my creative writing class we did an advanced poetry module. The most complicated poem we learned about was the sestina. They are rather block-like in layout and obsessive in the repetition of certain themes. I've never finished one before today, but I woke up in such a creative mood I decided to have another go. Here's the result! Hope it's ok!

Secrets Revealed.

Centuries ago there was a shining city; Camelot.

Protected fiercely by it's prince, Arthur

Was unmatched in his skills with a sword.

Though he did not know, he was protected by Merlin,

Both servant and creature of magic.

But that was his greatest secret.

He was forced to reveal his secret

When a terrible beast attacked Camelot.

For it was immune to his magic

And the task fell to Arthur-

Much to the horror of Merlin-

To slay the creature with only his sword.

But the beast's skin shattered the sword,

So the warlock revealed a second secret.

A short time ago, Merlin

And the Dragon below Camelot

Had forged for Arthur

A blade of old magic.

This most powerful of magic

Had created an unbeatable sword.

It was to be wielded only by Arthur,

But Uther had used it. So in secret,

The blade was taken from Camelot

And thrown into the lake by Merlin.

"Sire, we must go to the lake," said Merlin.

"I was born a sorcerer, and I have pledged my magic

To the service of you and Camelot.

Deep in the water lies a sword,

Forged in utmost secret

Just for you Arthur."

Saddened by the lies but still trusting, Arthur

Followed the dutiful Merlin

To the lake one night in secret.

Under the light of an orb of magic,

He dove down to the sword.

Together, prince and servant returned to Camelot.

The beast lay dead and Arthur said to Merlin

"I do not fear your magic. I shall keep it a secret.

Protected by my sword, you shall stay in Camelot."
