"Go to bed."

The blue hedgehog flattened his ears against his skull, pretending that he didn't hear.

"You'll gain nothing from sitting there all night."

Dark green eyes continued to glare at the computer screen, ignoring the older male.

"Zonic."

Said hedgehog sighed in defeat. "Yeah, yeah…" He quickly pressed some keys, and the computer shut down with a whirring noise. He got up from his chair, his legs stiff from sitting down for so long. The blue hedgehog yawned, but then quickly covered it with his mouth.

"How come you're in my apartment anyway?"

"Your sleeping habits." Zails swiftly replied, and Zonic gave him a half-hearted glare, which was weakened by his scruffy appearance and messy quills.

"Hmph…" Zonic walked up to him, where the fox stood and leaned casually against the doorway, observing him.

"You should be in bed too."

"Maybe I should."

Ice-blue eyes gazed into malachite-green for a minute, until the zone cop at last turned away.

"…Good night." He walked through the doorway, and into the small living room. He didn't have very much furniture, and he didn't need it either, so there was hardly anything there.

Zonic walked through the room, vaguely conscious of Zails who trailed behind him almost soundlessly. The blue hedgehog stopped in front of his bedroom door, which was slightly ajar. Slightly.

Zails stopped too, and Zonic could feel his gaze on his back.

"I am going to sleep. You don't need to look after me."

Zonic put a fawn hand on the doorhandle, and pushed the door lightly.

"…Sleep well."

"…You too." Zonic said softly, and pushed open the door. Light seeped into the dark room, and he took a step inside.

He stood still and heard as Zails' footsteps walked away. How his apartment door was opened, and after a moment closed again, leaving the blue hedgehog alone again.

Good night…
