Not The Man

Everything that Callen knew about his best friend was now compromised. His trust in his team, his friends, his so called family was compromised. He was angry, but mostly hurt. How could Sam have done those things? To his wife? To him? It went against everything he stood for. Callen refused to believe that it had all been a cover, because it would mean that he had been simply a means to an end.

And, quite frankly, Callen was tired of being a means to an end. He was tired of being used by everyone and everything. All he wanted was answers and a bit of peace, but he the more answers he received the more questions that would form. He wanted what he knew that he could never have. He wanted a family. He wanted friends that he could count on. He just wanted to be, G. Callen.

Not the man that could turn into anyone.

Not the man that could disappear, who wanted to disappear.

Not the man that knew hardly anything about his family.

Not the man that would kill or maim, literally in the blink of an eye.

Not the man that was more alias than himself.

Not the man whose found out that he had simply been an assignment.

Not the man whose best friend was an CIA Agent who was undercover as a NCIS Agent to keep tabs on the elusive ghost, the legend of G. Callen.

Not the man whose best friend led more lives than any of his own aliases did.

Not the man whose best friend was married to one woman, lived with the other, and had two children that he never saw, because he was too busy pretending to be an NCIS Agent, pretending to be Sam Hanna, pretending to be G. Callen's best friend, the closest thing he had to a sibling, family.

Not the man whose best friend had lied to him for years.

Not the man whose best friend knew the answers to every question that he had ever had about who he was, where he came from, why it had all happened.

Not the man whose best friend was the enemy, had always been the enemy.

Sam Hanna was not the man that G. Callen knew, not the man he loved as a brother, and he was not the man that would follow the order he was given.

He would not kill G. Callen, because it wasn't all a cover, not to the man known as Sam Hanna.

It was quite the author's universe, wasn't it? I'd like to hear what you thought of the experiment. Thank you for reading. If you've a moment, please check out the poll on my profile. :)
