Author's Note: Yeah, it's twincest, but I couldn't resist (and if you watch the show carefully, neither can they). There's just so much chemistry between them that their relationship can't be purely familial. The writing seems kind of awkward at places, so feedback is very welcome.
A Question by angryazngirl
Since the fall of Ming, there had been many peaceful evenings. This evening was not quite one of them. On this evening the shadow of a young queen was seen wandering the halls of the palace in search of the companionship of her brother.
"Terek?" Aura calls from the outside of his chamber.
"Come in." He says, opening the door for her. Upon seeing his sister, he noticed her uneasiness. "Aura, what's wrong?"
"It's nothing. I couldn't sleep, that's all." She enters the room awkwardly. She had never been here before. Not since he moved in. There was not much to behold. Unlike his sister, Terek was raised without much of anything and was not used to the luxury that his new status offered. He preferred to live simply and encouraged Aura to do the same, but as he was set in his ways, so was she.
"Please, have a seat. You don't look well." He motions for her to join him at a small table.
"I hope I didn't disturb you. I just needed to talk to someone." She says.
"Of course you didn't disturb me. To tell you the truth, I spent this whole time wide awake. Tomorrow is an important day." Terek places his hand over hers assuringly. There they sit for a moment. In silence.
Though they are sibling- twins in fact. They had only just found each other. While one lived a life of luxury, as a princess. While the other was cast out and left to die at birth. Still, whenever they were together they felt as if they had never been apart. They never needed words.
"Have you ever been in love?" Aura asks, breaking the silence.
"In love?" Terek looks up at her. "Why do you ask?"
"I remember around this time last year. I met someone." Says Aura, casting her eyes downward. "He was a dancer in the Honor Day pageant. That night and my father followed me when I went to meet him and had him killed."
"You loved him?"
"I could've." She says. "But it's not just that. He shouldn't have died the way he did."
"No one should." Says Terek.
"I didn't think it was safe to fall in love until..." Aura sighs, bringing her tearful eyes to look at her brother. "Until I did fall in love. But this time, father was the one who brought us together and fate what the one that opposed."
Confused and speechless, Terek lightly wipes away her tears. His hand lingers at her cheek for a moment.
"Aura..." He says, bringing himself forward. He gently kisses her on the cheek. With his lips hovering close to her, he hesitates before kissing her on the mouth. He can sense her fear- her torment- in a single moment of indecision before she give in and returns his kiss.
