Where we belong

I know these clouds are gray
That I am living under.
I know I'll be okay
With the rain or thunder.
I hear it calling me
I won't march into the sound.

"Where We Belong" by Lostprophets from the album The Betrayed

It was a scary thing. Meeting new people, with a family of there own. Especially people with family that big already. They had like seven kids. But really that didn't bother Louis much. He wanted a family, some place to call his own.

Not like a two year old would understand that this was not his real family. It would vaguely stay in his memory, the day he first arrived. Unlike other precious memories that would fade. In his heart he had always known.

The two year old clung tightly to the businessman's jacket. The brown material wrinkled under his small hand. He looked up into the face of Miwa-san. Her blue eyes lit up with joy.

"Thank you." She said to the man, taking her new youngest from his arms. She smiled as she cradled him close. "Don't worry Louis-chan, you'll never have to bee lonely again."

He just stared at her. In a few years he wouldn't really remember this day. He would forget everything that happened, then he would soon realize he wasn't really like them at all. But Miwa would protect him. He was now part of her family, how ever he felt in the future hopefully he would come to her. Time would tell, for the present all she could do was hope.

Louis was five when Yuusuke was born. When his mom brought the redhead home, she looked excited. In the three years he had lived with them, she had bore, Subaru and Iori. Ukyo had taken care of Louis for the most part after the Subaru was born. His older blonde haired brother resembled Miwa greatly. He was also very attentive. He watched after all of hris siblings.

The five year old looked over at tiny Yuusuke. This was is new little brother. How many children did Miwa want anyways? She loved them all equally, but never had the time for them. She was always busy with work or some other project. He loved her dearly, but this was not what he thought a mom should be.

Louis often found himself growing jealous of the newer family members, or the younger ones. But as a child he didn't think to much about it. Or maybe he just didn't want to. Sure he loved all of the members of this ever growing family, but there were things that those siblings shared that he could never have.

He realized it sometime later. That he really didn't feel like part of their family. And trying to distance himself only made his brothers worry. But it was the only family he could remember. Even if he wasn't really one of them, he could still belong.

"Louis." Masaomi said one day. "We'll be having a new sibling soon."

"Really?"

"She might be a little lonely, since she's coming in at such a late age."

Louis smiled. "I'm sure she'll like it here."
