AN/This is about the goddess Artemis and what happened before Percy came to camp./
There once was a pegasus named Sophia. Sophia was a kind and caring horned pegasus. She was the one who help Artemis watch the world. Sophia once noticed a sudden drop in the amount of lions one day and told Artemis. So Artemis was going to look into it when Sophia said "don't I will cheack it you need to watch and take care of the other animals."
So she went down were the drop happened. When she arrived she saw the lions were being killed by Ares. This had confused her; doesn't Ares know that Artemis looks after them? So when he was about to kill a cub Sophia ran out yelling, "stop don't kill that cub." So when Ares saw Sophia he had fled.
Later Sophia returned, when she did Artemis asked if she found anything. Sophia answered " yes I found Ares killing the lions and was about to kill a cub when he saw me and ran away."
This of course angered Artemis so she went and told Zeus. Later the gods and goddesses held a meeting about this matter. They had decided that Ares would need to reverse the deaths of the lions and would be under a watchful eye for a thousand years. This of coarse angered Ares so he wanted revenge against Sophia. So during the night many weeks later he was able to sneak out and went to where a new baby unicorn was. He snuck in and took it away while leaving a note, which said if you want to see this unicorn again have Sophia come to the green hill range tonight. So when she heard this she immediately went.
When she arrived she saw the baby and raced over to it. When she let it go Ares came and attacked her with a blade made of a mix of bronze and steel. That's when Artemis arrived and witnesses the event she immediately called Zeus and when he came and saw Sophia and Ares bloody blade he along with Artemis went to Sophia. Then when they saw they couldn't save her Zeus said "for your bravery and sacrifice you will be able to watch over the animals of the world forever in the night sky." That was when he turned her into the star pattern known as Sophia the great. So forever she is watching over the animals of the world she lived in.
