"I said no."

Her words echoed in his ears, ringing, ringing ringing, until he could feel them embossed into his heart. He retreated from her like she was on fire, for she actually was. Her personal fire burned brighter now then ever before. It shone in her cheeks, in her mouth, in her eyes. Her shoulders shook. He wasn't sure if it was because she was mad or because she was crying- he didn't ask.

"Just leave me alone."

Her tone of voice had changed, it quivered a little, and it hurt him inside. He felt his heart break in two as she withdrew her blue eyed gaze from him.

"I mean it, go."

Her voice now sounded remorseful, like she didn't really want him to leave. He hesitated, and then put an arm around her pulling her close. She leaned into him for a while, resting her forehead against his chest, but then she remembered what had happened and slammed her palms against him, pushing him back into the cold stone wall.

"Goddamnit, Malfoy, I said leave. Me. Alone."

Tears poured down her cheeks, and he realized his were wet too. He quickly wiped his sleeve against his eyelids and cheeks, and the harsh fabric scratched his soft skin, as if even his own clothes were rebelling against him.

"I didn't mean to-" He had to apologize, he just had to. But they weren't going to get anywhere if she wouldn't hear him out.

"You didn't mean to what? To snog my cousin, in public? Do you know who told me? My mum. I was horrified. I mean, if you wanted a break you could have just told me, maybe then we wouldn't be in this mess now." She was staring at her feet, and to clear drops fell from her cheeks, making a plop! Against the ground. He felt horrible, he didn't mean for that to happen, it just did. His lips still were stinging from the passionate kiss he experience minutes before.

"I love you though." His gaze was level; he wanted her to know how much he loved her. He loved how she made him smile, he loved her little smirk when she ended up being right, he loved the way she couldn't play quidditch to save her life, he loved everything about her. And he had to go and fuck it up.

"Love me? Do you really? Cause a moment ago you seemed to be in love with her."

Her face had contorted into something ugly. He knew this face, it was the face she made when she was truly, deeply upset, and he hated himself for causing it.

"Of course I love you." He reached out and pushed away a curl from her face. She swatted his hand away, hate blazing in her eyes.

"No, Scorpius. I don't think you do." And with that she picked up her things, ad walked away, trying to maintain her dignity as she let go of the one man she had given her whole heart to.

He watched her go, vaguely thinking he should go after her, but unable to move. His eyes teared up and his lips began to move as he uttered the words that hurt his own ears.

"Goodbye Rose."
