Fated to Pretend
A/N: This is a little one-shot that was swimming in my head. This is Lisa's POV while she is reflecting her relationship with Dean. I don't own anything, if I did then Dean would be all mine ;)
Lisa always knew the truth. She always knew it was not meant to be. She and Dean were not fated for one another. Lisa believed in soul mates, and wished the sandy-haired, green-eyed Adonis to be hers. But sadly, his is not her soul mate. The signs were always there, but she has long been in denial to see the truth.
Dean never loved Lisa the way she loved him. Sure, he felt for her, but it was not love. He did love Ben, but most importantly he was in love with an idea. To be a part of a loving family has always been Dean's dream. No, he loved being a part of her family. The truth brought tears to Lisa's chocolate orbs.
There was only one person Dean truly loved unconditionally. It wasn't the kind of love her and Dean share, but his feelings toward her could never compare. The love so strong was not of the romantic kind, but one siblings share. His brother, Sam Winchester, is the person Dean cares most about. It should be obvious since Dean practically raised his younger sibling. The truth is, Lisa is completely jealous of Sam. She longs to be the one who is most important to her love, but who can she kid. When Dean showed up on her doorstep asking to be a part of her family, it was like a dream come true. But every night, Lisa would be reminded that Sam still has that number one spot. She never knew exactly what happened that led Dean back to her, but every night when he went to sleep Lisa knew he dreamt of his brother. He would scream out Sam's name in the dead of the night. Yet, Lisa would still put on a smile, and pretend everything was perfect.
Then the day Lisa had long been dreading finally came. Sam blew back into Dean's life like a gust of wind, and the two brothers were back on the road. She wanted a normal life with the elder Winchester; she wanted for him to give up that life for her. He did for a while there, but Lisa knew he longed to return to hunting. She didn't want to get a call from Sam informing her that Dean had died. Even though she didn't fully understand his lifestyle, she knew it was a risky one. That day he kissed her goodbye before heading to his beloved Impala and back on the road, the brunette knew it was the end. Everyone has to wake up from their dream sometime.
Lisa did everything she could to move on. She met a man that actually made her feel since the Winchester that stole her heart. But Ben only wanted Dean, and her son foolishly called the hunter back. Lisa realized this was her only opportunity to set things straight with Dean. For them, love will never be enough to make their relationship work. He will never give up the things she wants him to. Her heart feels like its breaking. She wanted it so badly to work out. But Lisa has a feeling that Dean senses the same thing as well. The two of them were fated to pretend.
THE END!
