Valentine's Day is a romantic day... but what does romance means for Ichigo and Rukia, on such a day?

-----------------------------------------

To any onlooker, it is not a fight; it is a dance.

The lanky boy and elfin girl moved in silent synchronization, back to back, with their swords whispering past each other. Black and white flashed, and enemies fell like mown wheat before them. No words were spoken to coordinate any attack, for none were needed.

A slight tilt of his head, an answering glance from her eyes, and they flowed into a new formation. His ebon sword slashed the top half of a Menos, and her alabaster one followed closely behind for the finishing blow. The monster fell almost instantly, and the duo whirled on without pause.

The air was filled with the bellowing of wounded and raging Menos, yet their concentration is absolute. The distance between his orange head and her dark one is barely a few inches, yet both moved with precision and unspoken trust. A gigantic Hollow reared up before the girl. Without flinching, she swiftly stabbed and pivoted away; the boy swept by and finished it with a heavy overhand chop to its head.

In fact, either one of them alone would have been enough against this current group of monsters, but both enjoyed this complex dance of nimble movements and swift slashes. As they fought and played, trust is enforged, and faith in each other increased.

Finally the last of the Menos was defeated, its rent carcass shivering away. Both turned to look at each other, panting and exhilarated. Both were sweaty, yet their hands found each other without hesitation, and the girl laid her head on his strong shoulders.

It was only later, when they are both resting under a tree, that the girl realized something. She whispered in his ear, and he blushed.

He argued that it doesn't matter if its Valentine's Day; and after all that's just a stupid human custom and –

She stopped him with a small finger against his lips, a cheeky grin on her face. She leant in.

After all, it doesn't matter if its Valentine's Day today; for this particular couple, it is just like any other day, for everyday is Valentine's Day.

All you need is love.
