Disclaimer: Nope, no, never. Not mine. I'll put everything back when I'm done, I swear. ;)
A friend or two of mine asked that I upload this, so here it is. Just a quick little poem from Winry's POV. I may upload more poetry in the future. Any prompts or critique is welcome!
Tomorrow
Knees digging into brimstone
And a circle painted white,
You bled into darkness;
You screamed into night.
You had bodies that were broken
With scars I couldn't mend.
I cried for a Tomorrow
Where sadness had an end.
But Tomorrow is a promise,
Something like Today,
Atonement we'll never see,
With words we'll never say.
The resurrection failed
But you learned again to stand,
To remember how to walk,
And how to form a plan.
You said that you were searching
For a promise made to keep,
For smile that wouldn't greet you,
For a soul that couldn't sleep.
I saw you walking surely
Into burdens, baggage, blood,
Staining open fields,
Losing footprints to the mud.
Asking for an answer
I knew you wouldn't tell,
I repaired those broken bodies
And sent you back to hell.
A world made out of maybes,
Would-be's and what-if's
Was all that you could offer
For a smile from those lips.
Backs disappeared with distance,
And stars blinked out of sight,
I prayed for a Tomorrow
To burn forth from the night.
A promise called Tomorrow
Eclipses here, Today,
A lifetime lost to longing
And a home you will not stay.
