A/N - So, this is a little angstier than my other fics... well, I say 'a little'... the rest were all fluff. But this had to be written, especially after the end of Demons left me screaming at my TV... hope you like.
If she starts acting differently, we grade her and smite her.
It was easier said than done, Luke realised, as he held the gun out in front of him. Not that it would kill her, but it would sure as hell slow her down.
Mina had kept it hidden for almost a month now. None of them had even noticed until she slipped and looked Luke right in the eye. Not even Galvin realised, which proved just how good of an actress the vampire was.
A month. A month of faking her blindness, helping them during the day and disappearing to do god only knew what at night.
"You should've told one of us," he said, not daring to move. "We could've… I dunno, we could've…"
"Helped me?" She offered, staring straight at him, something Luke found incredibly unnerving.
"Yes."
"And what if I don't need help?" Luke blinked. "I was a fool to think I could keep this under control forever, we all were. I'm better this way, Luke." Mina took a step towards him, but Luke still didn't move.
"You're not," he shook his head. "I know you're not. You were fine how you were."
"Fine, maybe," she nodded. "Now I'm more than fine. I can see, Luke. I don't need to rely on you to give me a push in the right direction, or for Rupert to offer his arm."
"No, now you can just give us a quick nibble and be done with us." Mina rolled her eyes.
"Don't you think if I wanted to kill you I would have done it already?"
"Then why haven't you?"
"I never wanted to hurt you," she said, moving closer until she was all of a foot away. "Or Galvin. Ruby, maybe, but I won't." She smirked.
"How do I know you're telling the truth?"
"You'll just have to trust me," Luke rolled his eyes this time, letting out a snort of laughter.
"You've been lying to us all for a month, and now I'm supposed to trust you?"
"It's trust me or kill me," Mina said, glancing down at the gun. She reached out to move his hand so that it was pressing right above her heart. "And do you really want to do that?" She asked, head tilting to the side.
Luke stared for a moment, completely silent. After another minute, he sighed and walked straight past her, up the few stairs and outside, never looking back.
Mina watched him leave, lips forming a smile. "Goodbye Luke."
