"Evans! Go out with me!" James Potter shouted, when he caught sight of Lily Evans strolling through the corridor, clutching her school bag to her chest, chatting animately with her best friend, Marie , whom James very much disliked, he had gone out on a date with her once and it ended with James hexing her out of annoyance when she had kept making fun of his hair and glasses. Honestly, he had gone out with her to make Lily jealous. And he had proudly boasted to Sirius that it worked, she had shouted at him for dating her friend, calling him every bad name she could think of, and saying he was a useless heartbreaker, leaving whose heart broken a secret. He assumed it was hers.
Marie narrowed her eyes in a hateful glare, which James ignored."Potter, no." Lily retorted, rolling her green eyes. James always found her eyes striking, even if they did look at him with absolute loathing every time she saw him. "I better go, see you, Lily." Marie muttered.
"Ah, Evans, go out with me, please?" James asked, running a hand through his untidy black hair and half jogging to keep up with her, she was walking at a very fast pace. James loved it when Lily walked, her red hair swayed like a curtain caught in wind.
Involuntarily, Lily stopped, giving James another glare. "I haven't changed my mind from ten minutes ago, James. I do not wish to go out with you, not today, not ever." She spat."You will!" James smirked. "Lily Potter sounds like it was a name made for you, doesn't it?" James asked curiously. Her expression changed for a minute, as she looked seriously surprised as she contemplated it. Then her face returned to the special anger she always reserved for him."I'd rather go out with a grindylow." She muttered, her cheeks burning red.
"I'm highly offended. You have much better taste then a grindylow." James looked scandalized. Lily grinned.
"You're right, I do have better taste than a grindylow. I'd go out with the giant squid before you." Lily shrugged before walking away. James still wasn't going to give up. Lily would go out with him, he knew it. He was in love with her, he had been since the moment he saw her.
