This just popped into mind while watching Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and I had to write it!
I don't own Prince of Persia or Star Wars, but I have a bar of chocolate! Oh wait…. Not anymore. Nevermind.
"Hello , Obi-Wan ."
Obi-Wan whirled around to find a lightsaber pointed at his throat. The clones made a move forward, but he waved them back.
"Anakin !"
"We need to talk ."
" Then talk ."
" Alone ."
Obi-Wan waved the clones away. As soon as they left, Anakin dropped his saber and hugged Obi-Wan tightly.
"We are brothers , are we not ?" said Anakin.
"Who gave you the robe ?" asked Anakin,referring to the gift that killed the previous Chancellor and left the Senate in shambles.
Obi-Wan shook his head. It couldn't be possible...
"You trust him, as did I. But Naboo wasn't supplying our enemies with weapons. Palpatine lied to us."
Anakin put one hand on Obi-Wan's shoulder.
" Listen to me carefully. Beneath the crust of the planet lies an ancient force. A container holding the fabled Sands of Time. Palpatine wishes to use it to corrupt history. He wants to turn back time and make himself Chancellor ."
" 'Sands of Time ' ? " snorted Obi-Wan. "Heresies , Anakin. Pagan madness."
"And Palpatine discovered its resting place ." continued Anakin. "If we don' t stop him , our world could end ."
"If you' re going to kill me , best you do it now ." said Obi-Wan.
Anakin swallowed.
"This is no ordinary lightsaber .You press the jewel on its hilt and you will see . Act on what you know is right, Obi-Wan , no matter the consequences ."
He plunged the lightsaber into his chest, knocking over a table.
Palpatine entered the room
"The soldiers remain on …"
" Stay where you are ! " shouted Obi-Wan.
"He took his own life ." he said softly, kneeling by Anakin's side.
"Then God have mercy on the traitor , for he chose the path of the coward ." said Palpatine coldly.
"We both know Anakin was many things , but not a coward ." said Obi-Wan, remembering what Anakin had said.
" This is no ordinary lightsaber. Press the jewel on its hilt and you will see . "
Obi-Wan pressed the jewel. In a trance-like state, he realized that time was turning backwards. Palpatine left the room, the table righted itself, and the lightsaber came out of Anakin's chest and into his hand once more.
Time stopped turning.
"... no matter the consequences ."
"Stop ! A moment ago you died before my eyes ." said Obi-Wan, grabbing Anakin's hand.
Anakin looked at him and smiled in relief.
"You pressed it ."
"How did you know I would ?"
"Because we are brothers ."
