Hey, everyone! This is my first house of night story so...well...don't set your expectations too high.
Anyway... before I start the story, Leila means "dark, born at night" so I thought the name would kinda fit.
Disclaimer: All original HON characters and the main plot and what not does not belong to me. Most of this story doesn't belong to me, to be honest.
I have to get away. It doesn't matter exactly where I go, it just can't be here. I stuff my duffel bag with random clothes from my closet, and pretty much everything else I need. He is downstairs, I have to find another way to escape.
My eyes drifted over to the open window. I have to do it. I have to.
I yanked a sheet from off my bed, I won't be needing that anymore. Then I tied it to the end of my dresser handle, which was right by the window. I dropped the bag down first.
Can somebody remind me why I wanted the room on the second floor?
I grabbed on to the wrapped up sheet. This isn't really my style. I'm the good girl, straight- A student type that is in forty billion clubs and this seems like something I would nev- ahhhh!
Yes, I fell out the window. No, I did not tie the sheet secure enough. Yes, it really hurt. No, I was not going back in that hell hole they call a house. No matter what I do, I did something wrong.
Get an A- on a test. My dad beats me.
Text, call, or talk to a boy. Dad beats me.
Does anything before homework. Dad beats me.
Every day. No escape.
My mom is always to drunk to notice. Every time she hears, sees, or thinks about something bad, she gulps her worries away. My brother is always stoned or gone, so he is less of a help.
Alone.
I ripped the thought from my head, and continued to walk. I went over to a bus station, then checked in to a hotel close by.
Thank god for the one sober day my mom gave me a credit card.
I figured I would still have to go to school. I actually liked school, it was a way to escape. For a little while, anyway.
Think about something else. I told myself, made sure the door was locked, then drifted off to sleep.
You are safe for now.
I woke to the sound of an extremely annoying alarm clock.
It was set for seven, I was extremely late.
I quickly got dressed, brushed my hair and teeth, and sprayed on some perfume because I wouldn't have enough time to shower. Then, I ran out the door, and took the bus to my high school.
Once I stepped through the door, I was met by my friend, Lily.
"Your parents called the school. They are trying to find you. Where have you been?" She asked.
Some greeting.
"Lily, you are my best friend, please understand me when I say tell no one I was here."
I ran out the door, without getting a response, and walked to the nearest bus stop. I was running out of change for bus fare, I went on one three times in two days.
I went back to the hotel, tears started to stream down my face, and gathered all of my things.
I have to leave the town.
"Please!" I said aloud, even though I was alone, "Give me a way to get out of this place!"
I opened the door...
...to see a Tracker. A vampyre tracker.
The crescent on their forehead equivalent to a flashing neon sign. Danger. Danger.
"Leila Donovan! Night has chosen thee; thy death will be thy birth. Night calls to thee; hearken to Her sweet voice. You destiny awaits you at the house of night!"
He pointed to my forehead.
Shit.
My head exploded in a wave of pain.
That was unexpected.
Did you love it?
It gets better, I promise.
Review, please!
Pretty please!
With sugar on top?
If you review, I will write a longer chapter, this one was so short.
