Hopes and Wishes

--

Tears flowing down my cheeks

I hope that you can know.

I hide behind my mirrored eyes

And wish that you could see.

--

Laughter ringing in my ears

I hope that you're its source.

I whisper at the moon each night

And wish that you could hear.

--

Flowers wilting in my hands

I hope that you're not like them.

I blow kisses in the wind

And wish that you could feel.

--

Mirages dancing in the sand

I hope that you're not one.

I reach out for your hand

And wish that you were real.

A/N: I find Noah Bennet's character very interesting. He shows great caring and love for Claire, yet doesn't hesitate to cause others pain. He is a hypocrite that condemns a race based on certain individuals while continuing to blindly protect one of them. I'd like to think he does this out of love. He hurts people like Claire to protect her not only from herself, but from others like her. His sole priority is his family. This poem is about him after she leaves. How must it feel to lose a daughter you would give anything for? This is my best guess.
