Dante, a demon hunter dressed in a red trench coat, wielding two pistols and a sword on his back, had taken many jobs involving the slaying of demons, but this one proved to be more of a challenge than he thought.

He had heard stories of the pale yellow-scaled demon Etrigan, and how he was determined to become the ruler of Hell. The demon hunter had never met the demon face to face until today.

Etrigan was a demon bound to Jason Blood. He had only one objective; to become the ruler of Hell as quickly as possible. While he was capable of casting powerful spells, The Demon Etrigan had extremely little patience, preferring to blast with a fireball or flay his opponent until there was nothing left.

Dante had tracked down Etrigan into an abandoned monastery off the coast of Italy. Etrigan was using this place to raise an army of the occult to take over Hell, but he needed a way of getting there first, and that required blood sacrifice. Dante was called in to investigate after one of the parents of the children came to him.

Now, having rescued the child, Dante and Etrigan were squaring off. Etrigan let loose a stream of fire from his mouth. The demon hunter rolled out of the way and behind a pillar. He pulled out his guns and began firing, hoping to open up with a ranged attack. The bullets bounced harmlessly off of Etrigan and Dante shook his head, needing a new plan. He put away his guns and pulled out his sword, but The Demon saw him and unleashed another fireball from his mouth. Dante rolled out of the way as the pillar was destroyed, but the demon hunter had a trick up his sleeve; he was just as hard to hurt as Etrigan was, and it was going to be a while before the two could do serious damage to each other.

Etrigan came at him and attempted to cast a spell lowering Dante's defenses. Dante jumped over him and tried to stab him with the sword. Etrigan was surprisingly more durable than Dante first realized, as the sword did not cut as deeply as it should have. Etrigan had a very powerful, demonic hide that granted some protection from magical attacks.

Etrigan came at him again, trying to swipe with his claws. Dante rolled out of the way and tripped the sorcerer demon with his sword. Etrigan fell on his back and then felt the sword go through his chest. Dante twisted it with inhuman strength, but Etrigan still would not go down. The Demon powered up, unleashing a massive spell, bringing down the whole floor.

The two landed in a lower level of the monastery, a place where monks were often interred. Dante was separated from his sword and Etrigan pulled it out. The Demon was beginning to heal and would heal quickly if Dante could not make an effective counter attack and quick.

Etrigan began chanting a spell and Dante went for the sword. The fireball came from his hands and went for Dante. The demon hunter managed to grab his sword at the last minute and reflect the spell back at Etrigan.

Etrigan was hit, and the collision caused a massive amount of magical energy to be unleashed at the monastery. Dante began climbing out of the monastery as it started to come down all around him. He rescued the woman he had been hired to rescue and got out as the whole monastery came tumbling down.

One can only wonder if anyone could have survived the crushing rubble, but, as Dante left Italy, he could feel Etrigan close by, still alive…
