Diary of a Lovesick Breadboy

Being in love can be quite the journey. Follow Peeta's quest to tell Katniss he loves her, through his diary entries. Also read as Peeta experiences problems with jealousy and regular District antics. In this fanfic, the Games didn't take place. Read and review!

AN: This is based off of Diary of a Lovesick Mutant. I do not own any of these characters. (DoaLM is a Maximum Ride fanfic. It's so good, read it!) Please review!

Dear Diary,

Have you ever tried to attract someone with your knowledge of baked goods? Let me tell you, it isn't easy.

Today I tried to ask her out on a date, but of course, my love for BREAD got in the way.

Why me?

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce her. The her I was referring to is none other than Katniss Everdeen. Now, I'll tell you, I have loved Katniss for a while now, but one thing is getting in the way. That thing is me.

I have never worked up the courage to ask her out, because every time I try, I embarrass myself. Take today, for example. I really thought today was the day. Little did I know, this was probably the worst attempt yet. So here's how it went, but I'll put it in script form:

Peeta- Hi Katniss!

Katniss- Hi… Peeta, right?

Peeta- Yeah! So, I was wondering…

Katniss-...

Peeta- Do you-

Katniss- Do I what?

Peeta- DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE REPRESENTATIVE BREAD IS FOR DISTRICT 12?

Katniss- Um, no.

Peeta- WELL, IT'S THE SOURDOUGH SUGAR BREAD. YOU SHOULD BUY IT SOMETIME. FROM THE BAKERY. YOU KNOW, I WORK IN THE BAKERY.

Katniss- I do know that.

Peeta- Okay then! *walks away*

And, end scene. I might as well have been wearing a shirt that said "Bread Loser". I still can't believe I did that. I still do wonder if she went home thinking, "What's wrong with him?" Then again, I think that everyday.

I think it is about time Katniss knows how I feel about her. Then again, she probably knows, but it's better for her to hear it from me. So, that's my oath. Somehow, someway, I will confess my love to Katniss to her. If her "friend" Gale doesn't kill me first.

And if no one finds this diary first. I'd like to think of myself and manly, and if I really wanted to project that, I probably wouldn't have bought this diary. If my brothers find it, I'm dead.

Sure, I love my brothers (sometimes), but I know for a fact if they find this and read it, Katniss and the entire District will also read it soon after. Let's call this Phase 1 of Plan Katniss. First step is to formulate a confession plan. Second is to confess. Third is to fall in love, get married, have kids.

Well, maybe it won't be that easy.

Peeta
