clone n 1: Offspring produced from a single organism. 2 Copy.

But those are two different things, Kagome thinks. She crosses out "copy" in her dictionary. She has known "clones," has seen and spoken with them. From what she knows, has observed and heard, Kagura is no copy of Naraku.

Thinking of the dark half-demon twists her stomach. She abandons thinking of the two, turning instead to the crossed-out second definition.

Is that what I am? Kagome wonders. Am I just a clone of Kikyo? An inferior copy?

Always, always being compared to her. But not as pretty. Not as intelligent. Not as strong. The noble, tragic priestess…and the clumsy, tomboyish schoolgirl.

She can't help being bitter about it; it seems an unavoidable connection.

Kagome closes her dictionary and sets it to the side. No more for tonight. Or she might start realizing that she has more in common with Kagura than she thinks.
