Summary: Sometimes, the brightest smiles are hiding the deepest pains. Warning: self-harm. Drabble.

SkyGem: Another depressing fic…sorry. I honestly have no idea what's brought all this on. Maybe it's the anti-bullying campaign they're having at my school, and I guess you could kind of count this as an anti-bullying fic as well. I hope you enjoy it, ne? And I promise, my next one-shot will be an ultra super fluffy one, for those of you that are missing the fluff.

Disclaimer: I don't own KHR.

I stare in morbid fascination at the red pearls of blood running down the skin of my arm, dripping into the sink and staining the pure white.

A feeling of release courses through me, as if all the bad is draining out with the blood.

It hurts.

It hurts so, so much.

But at the same time, it's a relief.

It distracts me from an entirely different kind of pain.

It makes me forget everything that's wrong in my life.

I watch the blood drip slowly for a few more moments; drip, drip drip.

Then, before I lose too much blood, I clean up the cut.

I let the water run in the sink, taking away with it all the evidence.

I wrap the clean bandages around my arm, letting myself be lulled into relaxation by the familiarity of the action.

And as the pure white slowly covers up all the scars, a parallel change happens within me.

The desperate, vulnerable little boy, crying out for help is quickly hidden by the loud, boisterous young man that everyone knows.

Once I'm done, I exit the bathroom, and on the way to my bedroom, I bump into my sister.

"Good morning, onii-chan!" she says, a sweet smile on her face, and I smile in reply.

"GOOD MORNING TO THE EXTREME, KYOKO!" I shout my normal greeting, all the while repeating my mantra to myself in my head, over and over again.

Head up, stay strong. Fake a smile, carry on.

SkyGem: Heh. Makes you think twice about why Ryohei is always wearing his bandages on his arms, ne? We all just assume it's for boxing, but maybe it's something else? Heh. So what did you guys think? Like it? Hate it? Please leave a review and let me know what you thought! Ciao!
