Mirajane loved all her guild mates, every single one of them. She'd like to say that she loved them all equally, but that wouldn't be the truth. And Mirajane didn't condone lying, so if asked she'd be forced to admit that yes, she loves all her guild mates, but she loves some more than the others.
Her siblings obviously were some of those Mirajane loved a little bit more. Master Makarov, Erza and Laxus as well. Master was the father most of them never had, Erza had proven to be a friend you want to have after Lisanna had died. Despite Mira having been antagonistic towards her for years before the incident, the redhead had not left Mira's side until she'd been sure Mira wouldn't fall to pieces. So yeah, she loved Erza a lot. Laxus, well Laxus was a bit of a special case. He was always rough around the edges and surly, but he had a good heart. One just needed a lot of patience till one found it. Mira had seen it time and again and even though Laxus got worse over the years she forgave him every time.
Then there was one peculiar couple that Mira loved to death. Natsu and Lucy. They were just so adorable.
Crazy in love with each other but both too stubborn to admit it. Well, Lucy was stubborn. Natsu was just oblivious.
Mira loved to tease them, Lucy made it so easy, too. She took the bait each and every time and her reactions were priceless. Natsu wasn't quite so easy to tease. One had to be very specific with him or he wouldn't get it. At first the few times he understood what she meant he'd reacted similar to Lucy. Now though, now Natsu just grinned when she tried teasing him about Lucy. And Lucy was also changing her response, lately she'd just roll her eyes or stick her tongue out at Mira.
That was no fun.
Watching them though, now that was always fun. Rarely could you find one without the other, and together they always made it worth the time Mira spent observing them.
Like then for an instant. Gajeel was up on the stage, serenading Levy, in his own unique way, while Jet and Droy did their best to sabotage him. Natsu and Lucy were sitting at a table with Erza and Gray, watching the hilarity unfold. Natsu had his arm around Lucy, her head was on his shoulder and their fingers lightly interwoven while Natsu hollered in laughter and Lucy giggled beside him.
When Gajeel sidestepped an attempted full-body tackle from Droy and Droy ended up flying face first into Cana who promptly broke an empty barrel on his head, Lucy turned and planted her face in Natsu's neck, shaking with laughter.
The dragon slayer wasn't laughing. He had an odd expression on his face as he looked at Lucy's golden head. When the celestial wizard got over her hilarity and looked up again, Natsu just grinned and her and fed her a grape. Lucy in turn laughed again and ruffled his hair.
Yeah, it really was fun watching them, Mira concluded and turned to pour Laxus a drink.
One day they wouldn't be able to deny that they were crazy for each other. And when that day came, Mira would wish them all the best and tell them, I told you so.
