Crystal Shatters
A figure stands atop a grand mountain. The hands are together, fumbling nervously. Dull eyes are filled to the brim with salty tears. A dejected expression mars her face. The sky clears a bit and the moon light reveals a young girl. For the girl, pain is a constant reminder that she could never ignore or forget. That pain she feels, has engraved itself in her soul and become a part of who she is. In a nutshell, it helps define the people she is now.
No matter how badly things went, she always see's in her mind that smiling face. Yoh was always smiling and she could hear his laughter. She struggles against the onslaught of emotions. It hurts her. It really hurts. When he's there, so is she. Still, that's the way life is. She wonders if she killed a puppy in a past life and shakes her head vigorously from that absurd thought.
It's just life. Anna and Yoh were engaged since childhood. She was just too late in meeting him. 'We weren't meant to be', she thinks. She gulps and forces back tears, desperately trying to be brave. If only Anna hadn't been so smart, or so observant. She shakes her head from her out of control thoughts as her tears finally escape.
"I was just too late…" she whispers, her tears streaming down her face clearly. "… We weren't meant to be!" she wails miserably.
She spends many hours of nothing but crying senselessly. When her tears and sobs finally die down enough to be unheard, she turns her attention to the rising sun. The scenery is extremely beautiful, a sight that, on any other occasion she would have very much enjoyed. She whispers a quiet promise to herself that one day soon, she would smile again. Like the rising sun, a new day would dawn for her heart and love. Now all that she needs to do is sit and listen to her pained heart…
