Their Back! Reborn souls drabbles

I own none of the characters depicted in this set of drabbles. I am not making any money. This is done for amusement and fun. Comments and reviews are welcome, but please keep it civil.

Koenma frowned at the file in front of him. Several souls had put in requests for reincarnation lately and the spill over had landed in his office for review and approval. There were Warriors, Healers, Priests, Farmers, Nobles, and everything in between. Dozens could be denied out of hand due to not meeting the required criteria... But there were still many that needed read and judged.

First set was a group of three who fell in the service of Kanzeon Bosatsu. They were due to be reborn and could be sent out with the next batch towards the West (oh the irony). Hmm there was another soul he could add into that batch. She hadn't had much of a chance to enjoy life... "Reincarnation approved," he decided as he stamped the files and handed them off to George the Oni. "Make sure they go out with Henigeshi on the next rout."

"Yes sir, Koenma-Sama."

As the Ogre scurried off the godling turned to the next file. Skimming it over, he grumbled and stamped it with "REJECTED" and placed it into the "out bin". Honestly when would that girl learn. It didn't matter how high ranking she was in life. She had to go through the proper channels and follow procedure if she wanted to be reborn. If that little twit didn't start following the rules, she was going to get reincarnated as an aardvark!

Next up was a group of... "Oh for- who put these here? The 108 were supposed to start to be sent back last year! Ogre!"

"Yes Lord Koenma, sir?" one of the many oni working in the Gates of Judgment asked as he poked his head inside the door.

"Take this stack of files to the Distribution Office. Auto Rebirth for all of them. I do not want to see any of them again for another 200 years! Is that clear? I'm going to get some lunch and had better not be bothered unless it's at lease an A-class emergency!"

"Yes Lord Koenma, sir! Right away!"

Unbeknown to the overworked godling though, there were not 108 files in the towering stack. There were 120. This error would not be caught until it was too late to do anything about it.

Henigeshi checked over the files and nodded to herself. Three of the four souls would be reborn with in a year. The last would be reborn next year. Hmm... First things first.

"Let me see... Sanzo first, the Gojyo, and last Hakkai. The little one will be born next year."

She guided the souls across the realms one by one as they slumbered, each being placed with families that should cherish and love them. She just hoped it worked this time as they always seemed to suffer undue loss in their childhoods. "Hopefully this time you will be happy."

Each soul was placed into the soon to be mother's womb and in about 8-9 months they would once again draw breath in the world. As the Fairy Girl flew away on her oar, she couldn't help but wonder how long it would take them to find each other once more.
