He was so nervous. Toby had gotten to the restraunt 30 minutes early and he was terrified.

He tought to himself, "What if it's super awkward? Or she thinks it's a mistake? Even worse," he thought, "what if we have nothing to talk about? Or she secretly hates me? What is she doesn't show up? A million thoughts were going though his mind untill he thought, "Stop. She is your bestfriend and you love her. This is going to be perfect."

Toby had been so wrapped up in his own thoughts that he hadn't even noticed Happy show up to the restraunt.

"Curtis, party of two," she had said authoritatively to the lady at the hostess stand.

"Right this way miss," said the woman in response. "Your other party is already here," she said gesturing to where Toby was sitting.

Happy took in a shaky breath as she headed over to the table. Toby was lost in his thoughts and hadn't even noticed her. "He looks kinda cute when he's focused," she thought to herself absentmindedly.

"Hi," she said confidently as she arrived, making Toby nearly jump out of his seat, slightly spilling the glass of water in from of him.

"Hap-Happy," he stuttered as he tried to regain his composure while simultaneously wiping up the spill she had inadvertently caused.

Looking up at her again he stopped working and seemed to be transfixed. "You look ... wow. I mean amazing. Beautiful! I ment to say you look beautiful," he said with an slightly embarrassed smile that she happily returned.

"Won't you sit down?" he said in a way that felt oddly formal for the pair. After all, this wasn't really a typical first date. They couldn't talk about first date things like favorite movies or bands. They were so far beyond that it was almost laughable. But then again, everything between them had changed and it was hard to know where to start. They had done things out of order, fallen in love before they had even started dating. So it was hard to know where the night would go.

Toby's fears that they would have nothing to talk about were quickly negated as they laughted about work, projects, TV shows, the team, all their inside jokes, and basically anything else they could think of.

It was just so easy between the two of them. Thy poked fun at each other but still smiled in that sly way to show that it came from a place of love. At one point Toby even reached across the table and held Happy's hand. Much to his surprise she didn't pull away, but rather didn't let go all night.

It wasn't untill the restraunt had cleared out and the waiters started grumbling that they noticed how long they had been there for. They had literally been talking for hours but neither would have minded if had continued for longer.

After they paided Toby offered to walk Happy out to her car and although they both new she didn't need any protecting she let him walk her out anyway.

What should have been a five minute walk turned into thirty five. They talked and laughed and held hands and they took their good old time doings so.

When they finally got to her car Happy smiled up at him and, not being able to resist any longer, he tilted her head up and kissed her. Her lips met his in reponse but this was not like their ther kiss. This one was calm and slow, but long and deep, at the same time. It was not the kind of kiss you get on a first date and both of them knew it. It ment so much more.

As they broke apart they smiled at each other in a way that was so loving it normally would have made Happy roll her eyes. But instead, she leaned back into him for another quick kiss before turning to her car, getting in, and driving away.

Toby watched her car disappear into the distance untill it was well out of sight. "That was perfect," thought Toby. "Good thing I didn't take those sleeping pills. That could've ruined a perfectly goodnight."
