the way she thinks about
him
one time she looks up
the word 'friend' in
the dictionary
because maybe she is
a masochist or maybe
she needs to remind herself
and the meaning makes
her laugh bitterly
A person one knows and likes
she knows Tess but
would rather die than
call her a friend
she likes Mitchie but
would never
say she knows her
because she lied to
her
and everyone else
she knows him
better than
anyone
and that
isn't the problem
so much as the fact
she loves him
and
he likes her
and
nothing will happen
because maybe she's
scared or maybe
she's realistic
she doesn't sparkle
or sing
and that's what he loves
and he likes her
so she's his friend
and she's not sure what
he is
anymore
so she sits and reads
'friend' over and over
so she is reminded
So I was sitting in the guidance counselor waiting room today at school during 3rd period when this came into my head. Luckily my counselor was running late so I started writing, pretending I was filling out college stuff. I've never done free verse like this before so let me know how you like it. And I swear I'll start writing fluff soon!
