Neal always watched over her though he never told her. He watched her brave the ballrooms watched as she had failed relationships.
He loved her like a sister; he would always be there for her.
When Kel would run and lock herself in her rooms Neal would walk in and hold her. He would tell her that she didn't need anybody else because no one deserved her. She would fight his hold and then she would collapse back into his arms sobbing her heart out to her best friend.
Neal always followed her. Wherever Kel went Neal was right there with her. Neal, the only person who had never left her when she needed him the most. He was always the one who would come to her rooms after midnight, when she couldn't be alone.
They knew they loved each other. Neither of them really knew the extent of what they meant till 30 years after they had both married and had families. They had both lost their significant others. And who should they run to but each other.
And as they sat together weeping for what is lost they both knew that in each others arms was where they were meant to be.
"I love you Kel" he said as he sat there holding her in his arms. And as she smiled and said "love you too Neal" they both knew that they had wasted precious time for being togther but the still had a chance for life, love, and hope
And that is how they stayed for the rest of there lives holding each other up, and comforting. And when the Black God finally came for them that was how he found both of them; embracing each other and never letting go.
