Hi! I have always loved Beauty and the Beast. We all knew a lot about Prince Adam before he was cursed, but not a lot after he was human again. I created this FanFiction as a story of what it was like for Adam to adjust to being human again. Thanks for reading and comments and suggestions and greatly appreciated. Enjoy!
Blue eyes. Adam's blue eye's were the one thing that remained human while he was cursed. His eyes use to be his favorite feature but now they bring back memories, he would rather forget. They remind him of his dark past. When he was cold. When he was loveless. When he was a beast.
He wasn't dreading going back to the castle for the reasons one would normally. It wasn't the reason his dear wife Belle dreaded going back. It wasn't because he wanted to stay in Paris forever. He loved Paris, but he wasn't dreading leaving it.
These last couple of weeks had been an escape. Ever since his transformation, he hasn't felt completely...human. The initial transformation was so drastic and so big, he doesn't feel the same. He had been a beast, a hideous creature, a monster for so long. He had grown use to being the way he was. Being human again felt like it just wasn't him.
Being around the castle staff as a human was both strange and embarrassing. He felt embarrassed of what he used to be and afraid they still see him as a cruel monster. They left right away after they were wedded. He barley talked to anyone other than those who attended. He had immediately planned a honeymoon for after the wedding. He didn't want to see, talk, or be around anyone except Belle.
Adam had told nobody about his internal struggles. Not even his dear Belle. He wanted to, but seeing her so happy on this trip made him keep to himself. He didn't want to say anything that would change that. He didn't want her smile that could make the world fall apart, to leave.
He looked over at Belle, who was reading on a ledge by the window. The view of Paris was spectacular. He made sure that they stayed at the most wonderful hotel so Belle could enjoy the view from Paris.
He looked at her features. Her acorn brown hair, her maple eyes, her fair complexion, her soft face, everything. Every time he looked at her he feel in love again and again.
The trip had been amazing. They explored the city, going to Eiffel Tower, and they even dedicated a whole day at a massive library in the middle of the city. His favorite part wasn't the books, it was her face. The looks on her face were pure joy. Adam would study as she read . An expression he couldn't described crossed her face. A look that could make anyone fall in love with.
As he sat, in his memories, Belle sighed and closed her book. "Finished already?" Staring at the cover of the book she responded "Yes." She smiled and looked at him. "It was wonderful." Her smile made him smile too. He walked up to her and kisses the top of her head.
Adam sat next to Belle and took her hands into his. Hands. His hands were one of the things he missed the most while he was still a beast. He was still getting use to having fingers instead of paws. Having claws instead of fingers made once simple tasks, rather difficult.
Her hands were small and soft in his. "I'm going to miss this place," she sighed as she looked out the window at the buzzing city. "Then we shall come back some day," He said with enthusiasm She smiled at him and looked down at their hands,
still together.
"What if we spent our last day at the library?" Her eyes lit up and her grip tightened. "Really?" "Of course! Anything for you." She giggled and stood up. She quickly walked over to the coat rack with a determined, focused look, and grabbed her cloak.
He laughed and walked over to her. "We must hurry then, we wouldn't want to waste anytime." He said playfully. She looked at him mischievously. He winked. They both stated laughing. Her laugh anyone who heard it want more of it.
He put his head behind her neck, and slowly pulled her in to a tender kiss. She put her hands on his face. The love he felt for love was so strong and so real. He wasn't sure if any other man had ever felt this way. He knew he was so lucky. To have Belle.
After a while, she pulled away, smiled, and whipped "We better get going." And they were off.
Later that night in bed, Adam lay next to Belle. She was sound asleep he studied her face. She looked so peaceful when she was sleeping. He brushed a stand of her hair out of her face and smiled.
He lay in bed remembering the memories of the library. The library in Paris was almost as big as the one in his castle. Belle and Adam explored parts of the library they had missed the first time. They read. Belle read of stories and far off places while he read Shakespeare's Hamlet. It was one of his favorite.
He wiggled his toes in the soft sheets. Rubbed his fur less legs together. His hands felt his human body. It didn't feel right. One minute he was a beast, on the ground accepting his death staring into Belles face, which was wet with tears, and then the next, a human again kissing his love, Belle living happily ever after.
He stared at the ceiling. He listened to the clock tick. He looked over at Belle, who was still dreaming of far off places. He was trying to be the husband Belle deserved. She had changed his heart while he was a beast, but he still wasn't near perfect.
He worried, this entire trip that he would become cold and heartless again. He worried that he would be torn away from Belle and transformed into a beast. He was afraid that Belle would change her mind, see that he was still a monster, incapable of changing. He was afraid he wouldn't get a second chance.
Losing Belle would be the worst thing to ever happen to him. So he worked hard. He worked hard to be kind. Be be better. To change. For her.
He finally fell asleep, to the sight of Belles face. He knew he would have to face everyone again tomorrow. He knew they still saw him as a beast. He had a new kingdom to run.
Thoughts ran wild in his mind until he finally fell asleep. He finally fell asleep, to the sight of Belles face.
I do not own Beauty and the Beast by Disney. I do not own Belle or Adam. I only own my words.
