*I don't own Jane and the Dragon or its characters
Based off a line spoken by Noah Reid, who by the way was Gunther's voice actor. It's from the Movie "Three Inches" from the part when he is all excited about his childhood crush visiting. Anyway, thought of this fic right away since it was literally in Gunther's voice and thought it would be something Gunther would do. Hope you like it
There was no way his plan could fail. Or so he thought. It sounded great when he was as drunk as a sailor but now, after proper revision it sounded somewhat human.
Pacing back in forth in his room, Gunther went over his speech "Today I will tell her about my plan and what I intend to do with my life. I am going to march down there, look her straight in the eyes and say... And say... Bat bladders! What was I going to say?"
Taking a swig of cider, he felt a bit more liberated to continue "Oh yes, first I am going to cut ties with my father which would leave me penniless, but that does not matter. I will make my own business."
Yes it looked moronic, but at the moment he did not care, he was on a roll. "Yes, that's it! I will go into bartering, trading one thing for another. It will take a little time but then I'll collect enough suitable things to please her and make the house pretty"
Checking off things on his list, he tapped his fingers against his desk trying to remember. "A house... A house... Where am I going to get a house? If we live at the castle or become adventurers then there would be no need"
Scribbling little doodles, the darnedest thought popped into his head "But what if she wants babies? I'm more then happy to help, but what if she doesn't... I mean she must want them, she is a girl after all. But then again it is Jane we are talking about. It is more likely that pigs fly before she considers settling down. Nevermind that, who would cook? If we live here then there would be no need for that. Maybe I should shorten my ten year plan to a five year plan. But where to start? Why is thinking hurt my head so much?"
Walking into his room, Jane asked "Are you talking to yourself again?"
"No!... Yes?... What were we talking about?"
"I just came to to tell you that Sir Ivon wanted to hear your opinion about his latest invention"
"Tell him I'm coming"
Standing in the doorway, Jane laughed "By the way, forget about plans, I think it is better to live a day at a time since you never know what could happen. Besides, you have only asked for my hand yesterday. I think you can wait a few days before you drown in self doubt, do you not agree?"
"Right, I am right behind"
Before Gunther left his room he wrote a note to himself. "Note to self, Jane is always right"
