The Declaration of War
Sometimes…Ace just couldn't really understand what his baby brother was thinking.
One time the bouncy boy would scream for food, but a moment later he would ambush Ace, jumping and hugging him like a leech. Another time the boy would be peacefully asleep, before seconds later he would perk up and run after an interesting insect he found in his sleep (?).
Ace even wondered if the boy had ever fallen off something, his head hitting the ground first. He was so…out of common sense.
Ace knew his brother Luffy was still a kid; still…he was so volatile. It was hard to tell what he was up to until after the fact. Well, that was what made Luffy so interesting, though.
That's why Ace tried to be as prepared as possible whenever Luffy started any of his antics. He would go along and laugh, even though he didn't understand it. Ace could live with that, no matter what. After all, it was Luffy and he was special.
Well, Ace thought he could go along with it until forever, no matter what, but it seemed he was deadly wrong about that one matter.
"Ace, when I am grown up, I wanna be your wife!"
This one sentence came out of the blue one day when Ace was about to do his laundry, from his baby brother's mouth, leaving the older brother stunned, staring at the little brother's serious determined face with wide eyes and with a dumbfounded look.
Ace was still holding his laundry in his arms and kept staring at the boy, not sure what to do.
"Eh?" Ace could only manage that one word before, suddenly, Luffy perked again and shouted at the cat walking on the neighbor's wall.
"Eh…?" Really, Luffy was so unpredictable it caught Ace off guard.
