A/N: To avoid confusion and because I know there are people who don't look at the timeline on my profile, this story takes place between "The Choice" and "Loss".

It was a lovely sunny day, the green meadow stretched from the edge of the small forest to the horizon. It seemed as if Jade was over looking the whole world as from the shade of the forest she watched a tall muscular man and a five-year-old girl playing in the open field. Race knelt down, catching the little girl by the shoulders. He murmured something to her. The little girl with her daddy's ice blue eyes grinned and nodded before bolting towards the forest.

Smirking mischievously Jade retreated until she was standing behind the tree, just out of sight. She listened to the now slowly approaching footsteps, the girl was coming around the left side of the tree so Jade moved back towards the right.

"Huh?" The girl murmured in surprise when she realized her mother was not behind the tree anymore. Jade continued around the tree slowly and quietly, now behind the five-year-old. Jade crept forward, preparing to strike.

The little girl shrieked with laughter as hands tickled her sides. "N-no!" She giggled trying to squirm away.

"Got you." Jade smirked

An arm wrapped around Jade, a hand sliding under her shirt to tickle her belly. Jade gave a surprised laugh as she attempted to escape. "And I got you." Race murmured mischievously.

"Oh really?" Jade dropped to the ground suddenly, effectively getting away from him... and giving their daughter an opportunity to attack. Jade laughed, rolling to escape the small hands tickling her belly.

And then everything suddenly dissolved as Jade's eyes fluttered open. A dream. It had been nothing but a dream. Rolling onto her back Jade sighed as she rested her hands on her belly. In a couple of years that five-year-old with black hair and ice blue eyes might exist, but that was the only thing about the dream that would ever become real.

Jade couldn't be a mother, and she and Race couldn't possibly have a life together. Which made her current predicament all that much harder. Jade still had no idea what she would do with the child. Honestly Jade believed the best course of action would be to put the child up for adoption. Jade couldn't possibly raise a child. Not with her job.

Honestly, Jade knew she should just get an abortion and be done with it. She wouldn't have to figure out what to do with a child that was never born. And yet she couldn't bring herself to do it. She wouldn't have it terminated. She couldn't.

And that was why she was unsure she'd even be able to give up the child. What would she do then? How could she possibly raise a child?

Ugh. She didn't need to think about this now. She still had a little less than eight months to go, she didn't need to come up with a solution right now.
