Ever since Clay had listened to the tapes, he missed Hannah more and more. The school acted like she never existed. Well, not the whole school. A few of the students and one teacher owned special, scary information from Hannah herself. Every one of them felt more or less guilt.
But no one felt as bad about it as Clay did. He blamed himself for her death. He just wanted her back so bad. His mum had noticed the difference in her son and asked him about it, he explained that he knew Hannah well.
He began to cut shortly after he listened to her last words. At the beginning it was just lines that turned in to words: Freak, Loser, Hannah etc.

He wasn't that happy about that the school had moved on so fast. Hannah had just been dead for like a month and they planned a signing competition! The song needed to be dedicated to someone. Competing wasn't an option, it was a condition. The competition was the next day, Clay had everything under control.

''And now it's time for Clay Jensen!'' The speaker screamed. The audience applauded.
Clay walked up on the stage and took the microphone.
''Hi, I'm Clay, and this song is fore my only true love, Hannah Baker,'' he could here the audience gasp as the music started to play.
I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house
That don't bother me
I can take a few tears now and then and just let ?em out
I'm not afraid to cry every once in a while even though
Goin' on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend I'm okay
But that's not what gets me
What hurts the most
Was being so close
And havin' so much to say
And watchin' you walk away
And never knowin'
What could've been
And not seein' that lovin' you
Is what I was tryin' to do
It's hard to deal with the pain of losin' you everywhere I go
But I'm doin' it
It's hard to force that smile when I see our old friends and I'm alone
Still harder gettin' up, gettin' dressed, livin' with this regret
[. From: . .]
But I know if I could do it over
I would trade, give away all the words that I saved in my heart
That I left unspoken
What hurts the most
Is being so close
And havin' so much to say
(Much to say)
And watchin' you walk away
And never knowin'
What could've been
And not seein' that lovin' you
Is what I was tryin' to do, oh
Oh yeah
What hurts the most
Was being so close
And havin' so much to say
(To say)
And watchin' you walk away
And never knowin'
What could've been
And not seein' that lovin' you
Is what I was tryin' to do
Not seein' that lovin' you
That's what I was trying to do, ooo
His voice was strong, and full of passion. When he had finished he ran of the stage.

''And the winner is… Clay Jensen! Can Clay Jensen enter the stage please?''
But Clay was no wear to find. A girl ran backstage and found him. He was covered in blood and shirtless, so his scars were visible.
He had a note at his chest that said:
I'm so sorry mum, but I can't live without her, and don't think that this changes much, my soul is dead already, it died with her.
