Hey everybody! I know, you're probably all amazed that I'm actually updating so fast. Sorry, but this is actually a poem in the dreaded second-person. But it is JOHNNY CADE'S BIRTHDAY! Just so we're not confused, it's Johnny's b-day, not Ralph Macchio's. But I love him anyway. Anyway I know we all hate reading poems and usually they never get reviews, but please read and review this! It's kind of a story so I'd really appreciate it! Please, for Johnny?

Like my good friend Dallas Winston says, "Let's do it for Johnny!"

PS: The reference to "brown eyes" is talking about Soda and also "the call" is Dallas coming to get Johnny and Ponyboy.

*Flashback*

Close to the edge,

Wondering why they're not here,

When you need them most.

A blue Mustang,

Something that was so ordinary.

Never seemed so dangerous,

Until now.

"Greaser,"

The tone rings in your mind.

That surge of fear floods your body,

You're defenseless now.

Those gold rings,

They scrape and sting your cheeks.

Tearing you apart,

You can't feel anything anymore.

Shoves, punches, kicks,

You feel the pain detached from your body.

Eyes wide and blurred,

Consciousness is very far.

"Johnny? Hey, Johnnycake,"

The slight whisper brings you back into the fuzzy picture.

Concerned brown eyes,

Hands lifting you and faces watching you closely.

Memory floods your mind,

It hurts too much to bear.

Rapid breathing,

The tears begin to fall.

They comfort you,

Tell you that you'll be fine.

But paranoia,

Is yours forevermore.

*Present time*

That switchblade,

That one that got revenge.

And saved a life,

Kept you from being in the same position.

The same worry,

That fear of the unknown.

As you sit in the church,

And wait for the call.

This is much worse,

You have no way out.

But at least you're not alone,

You, him, and your uneasiness.

But in this corrupt city,

Where nobody can turn their backs.

Your kind stays with you,

Watches you vigilantly,

You're a brother.

Life keeps going downhill,

But you can depend on one thing.

A true family,

And love you've got,

That you may have never known.
